How It Works

The Roller Tip Massager comes with two sets of batteries! The toy takes 4 x AG13 batteries, which are commonly used as watch batteries. The single push-button control runs the eight vibe patterns/speeds.

The first pattern is comprised of short pulsations that are about one second long. The second setting is a weak-to-medium strength continuous vibration. The third alternates the pulsations from the first setting with the continuous vibe from the second. The fourth vibe is the same as the third, except the pulsations are double the speed. The fifth is the same as the fourth, but the continuous vibe runs longer. The sixth is a continuous vibration that a slight bit stronger that the second setting. The seventh alternates between continuous vibe and pulsation using pulsations that are four times as fast as the first ones. The eighth option is the same as the seventh, but the continuous vibe runs longer.

Although the toy can be twisted apart at three different sections, it comes back together to form a slick smooth surface; you can hardly feel the ridges along the body. The top section twists off to reveal the unique roller tip, which is used to apply lubricant to the by rolling it gently around. Because the tip is small, it distributes a corresponding amount of liquid so be patient when applying it. It’ll perfect for a ‘spot-check’, so to speak. The second section comes apart to reveal the compartment where the lubricant is held, while the third section opens up the battery compartment.

Audibility

The vibrator was quiet! It still doesn’t beat any of the Lelo products I’ve tried, but it’s definitely one of the Top 10 quietest toys I’ve tried. The advantage of watch batteries is that they’re terrifically quiet, but the trade off is power output. In my opinion, the Roller Tip Massager is still a bit loud to use in the bath, but the shower is no problem.

Cleaning

The recommended care is as follows. The toy should be washed after each use with a liquid antibacterial soap and warm water. If it didn't get taken apart initially, you can pat it dry with a soft cotton towel but allow it to completely air dry before storing it away. If you did take it apart, make sure that you are thorough, cleaning each chamber carefully, particularly the one that stores the lubricant.

Critique

What I really like about this vibrator is that you can be so discrete about applying extra lubricant. You can spin off the cap with one hand, then rub on what’s needed while continuing to enjoy the vibration through the roller tip. Twist the cap back on and continue your play.

Unfortunately the intensity of the vibe is a little weak. Its power totally gets diffused through the body of the toy; regrettably, you can’t target power to one single point either. I was dissatisfied with the lack of creative thought put into designing the vibration settings. I also couldn't tell any difference in intensity from one pattern to the next. I did find myself hovering around the last few settings because they were a bit more interesting that the rest.

I love that so many extra batteries were included but after a few uses, you’ll soon realize that they can burn out pretty quickly.

It’s always a bonus when a toy is waterproof and feels smoother than smooth on the skin. When you get a good amount of lubricant on it, the little guy gets really slippery, which is why I wish it came with a better grip handle for bath and shower play.

Long Term Appeal

The Roller Tip Massager has long appeal due to its simplicity, ingenuity and portability. However, you may get tired of constantly replacing the batteries. Well constructed was not something that immediately came to my mind when I first played with my new toy and I question how it’ll stand up to me dropping it in the shower because it slid out of my hand more than once.

Value

The price point on this toy is great; it’d be worth the cost just to try out such a unique feature - self-lubrication!

Final Thoughts

The Roller Tip Massager will be a handy item to use solo, or with a partner, and will be fun to experiment with. It scored big points with me because it’s self-lubricating and extremely quiet, but lost due to its lack of power, mediocre vibe patterns and (surprisingly) how slippery it was! I rate it 6.5/10.
