Although I was speculative about its ability to please, a couple of tries convinced me otherwise...

Description and Materials

The shape of the Oui is quite commendable. It’s unlike the majority of small clitoral vibrators out there in that it’s not shaped like a phallus.

Its form bears a resemblance to the shape of an abstract heart. The ABS plastic material has a brushed metal look. It also comes in a plastic version with 3 different colors to choose from: pink, purple and black. The Oui is not meant for thrusting or insertion and its design is anything but phallic. Use it to stimulate the most sensitive areas of your body such as nipples and vulva (external genitalia).

This smoothly shaped disc is barely a 1/2 inch thick; at 2 inches tall and 3 inches wide, this chrome colored vibrator fits comfortably into the palm of your hand. To my surprise, its shape actually lends itself well to sensual rubbing and it was quite easy to manoeuvre around the areas of the vulva. This is probably because the Oui is super lightweight: only 1/10th of pound!

This device requires 1 AAA battery, which is not included in the purchase. The battery compartment is not concealed and its screws are completely visible. The battery cover is easily removed and comes completely away from the Oui. The direction that the battery needs to face is clearly marked inside the compartment. The power components take up almost 1 whole side of the vibrator, which unfortunately takes away 1 whole side the surface area that you can securely play with. The manufacturer recommends that you remove batteries when the Oui is not in use.

You can confidently carry the Oui in your purse or backpack because it won’t immediately stand out as a pleasure object. The black satchel that’s included with the purchase is a great way to transport and store it.

How it works

The speed can be controlled with the single button control that rests in the valley of the heart. You press the spongy button to turn on the device and repeat to turn it off. In terms of options, you get only one mild continuous vibe to play around with.

Audibility

The Oui is not what I’d consider a quiet vibrator. It falls somewhere in the middle of the pack, which isn’t bad considering the reasonable price. The nice thing is that the pitch of the vibration is a higher decibel, which makes it less noticeable, and the battery doesn’t rattle inside the body. You’ll find that the sound of the vibe isn’t obnoxious and despite the volume, it will be quite bearable in the bedroom.

Cleaning

Don’t immerse the Oui in water because it is not waterproof. The manufacturer recommends that it be washed before and after each use. My advice is to wipe it carefully with a cloth soaked in warm water and non-irritating soap. Do your best to avoid the control button and battery compartment. I’d also suggest that you remove the battery before cleaning it and let it air-dry before storing it.

Critique

As I mentioned above, I was a bit sceptical about the pleasure I’d achieve from using the Oui. I immediately presumed that its vibe was going to be too weak and that one speed would make me lose interest. The first time I used it, it didn’t really do it for me and I ended up switching toys halfway through. I felt that the vibe was all-too-gentle and I was frustrated that I couldn’t bump it up.

The second time around, I was in the mood for a longer, more drawn out masturbation session; that’s what did the trick. Because I was a bit more patient, I could experiment with the curves of the Oui and what they could do for me. You can rub the narrow edges along the tissue between your leg and your outer labia, then among the inner folds of your labia. You can also lay it on its flat side and massage it around your vulva and move it slowly towards the clitoris, with its soft point leading the way. Take your time with this maneuver.

I was so happy to take advantage of this toy's curves, but I did feel a bit inhibited - I didn’t want to flood the battery with my happy juices! The battery compartment in the back is not sealed at all. Because of its location, it’ll be nearly impossible to use that side without getting vaginal fluid or personal lubricant all over it. You can certainly use the Oui without lubricant because it is so smooth, but you won’t be clear of the problem. You can try to use it over your underwear, but you’ll end up feeling an even weaker vibration. A condom is another idea but do you really want the annoyance? Had this item been waterproof, it would have totally availed the Oui from its main disadvantages: awkward to clean and hygiene.

Long Term Appeal

As much as I wholly enjoyed having an orgasm courtesy of the Oui, I’m sorry to say that I doubt it will last a very long time in my pleasure chest. I think that it has the capability to operate well for a long term period, but I don’t have the security in knowing that it won’t harbour hidden bacteria.
