Lipstick Massager

This cleverly disguised gadget is built right inside a real lipstick case and can easily be carried around for those “on the spot” orgasms. Made by the Sinclair Institute, the Lipstick Massager is lightweight for travel and its retractable lipstick head looks just like regular makeup. This toy got a major ‘thumbs-up’ from a group of my girlfriends, who thought that it was the perfect vibrator to create some very spontaneous sexual opportunities.

Description and Materials

Best used for clitoral stimulation, the one speed, one setting Lipstick Massager provides pinpoint stimulation simply by twisting the tube to turn it on. This handy little vibrator has a black case and is almost 3" long by 1" wide. Made in Japan, this toy is constructed from a high grade plastic material, thus making it Phthalate free. It is not waterproof and therefore should not be immersed in water.

Who it’s for

This product will have a huge appeal for someone who wants to have a good time -anytime. What an awesome toy to have kicking around in case you want to surprise someone in a public place; slip it into your hand, place on target and voila! It’s easy to turn on with one hand and even easier to control – it almost feels like you’re getting the same dexterity that you would while writing with a pen.

The other attractive feature with the Lipstick Massager is that it’s not your typical representation of a sex toy; it’s non-phallic and has no animals on it. The direction that some toys are moving toward is interesting, because they’re being designed as imitations of everyday objects.

Packaging/Storage

The Lipstick Massager comes in a very basic cardboard container with a plastic mold to display the toy in. I really like the design on the box because it’s modern, fun and gives a good impression of the product despite its lower price point.

In terms of storage, your options are wide open! It’s easy to carry in a purse or a gym bag and even inconspicuous enough to leave lying about. Because the clear plastic case snaps securely over the lipstick base, you can skip the little satin carry sack. From my experience, it’s quite easy to overlook this gadget - so if you don’t want to lose it, keep track of where you put it!

Audibility

Although the Lipstick Massager looks inconspicuous, it’s noise level is another story. Its audibility is somewhere in the mid-range, compared to all of the toys I’ve ever tested. If you were going to attempt a public orgasm, try for a one that has some hub-hub so you won’t be heard.

I noticed a loud buzzing sound emanating from the toy in between the on and off positions. It was sort of like the battery rattling against the body of the device. If you want to use this in a public place, the lipstick does not ‘click into place’ so you’ll have to be firm about turning it on and off.

How it works

The Lipstick Massager uses one 1.5 volt battery, which comes included. The battery cap is notched … to remove it, you twist it to the open position to access. To turn it on, you start by removing the protective case. By twisting the shaft all the way, the lipstick end emerges and you activate the vibration; twisting it in the opposite direction will draw the lipstick down the tube and shut off the unit.

Pleasure Factor

In terms of the shape of the toy, I am a huge fan; you can really work it, twisting and rubbing it around erogenous zones to get yourself or another person off. However, the vibe transferred more to my hand than it did to my clitoris. I successfully got myself off because I was manually working the lipstick tip, but I was a bit baffled as to how much longer it took as the vibe was not directed to exactly the right place!

Cleaning

The package recommends that it be wiped with a warm wet cloth and mild soap. I’m not crazy about the hygiene of the product and personally I’ve just stuck to ‘underwear and above’ play. There are just too many crevices in the toy for bacteria to be harboured.

Critique

I encountered a couple of problems by the third time that I used this product. Firstly, the unit didn’t quite turn off when I twisted the tube to the closed position. I think that the battery cap didn’t line up in its sweet spot and it took me fiddling with it to get it to shut off. By doing this, you can inadvertently twist the cap right off and the battery will fall out.

Secondly, I didn’t like how loose the battery cap was. What would have worked a lot better was if it could be locked into place. The manufacturer recommends that you store the battery outside of the compartment when not in use, so it should at least be a little easier to replace it without fumbling.

Despite the fact that the Lipstick Massager gets credit for including a battery, I wouldn’t have minded at least an extra battery. They’re cheap, lightweight and available to the manufacturer – it just boosts the overall impression and it saves buyers that extra trip to a more specialized battery shop.

Value

The price point of the Lipstick Massager is fantastic and it is such a great gift idea –it can be made as a prize or a gift that you include in a bridal or bachelorette gift. Its presentation is effective and is just way too fun to pass up!

Final Thoughts

Despite a couple of deficiencies I found in its construction and audibility, I’d say that this is an awesome style of toy to own because it can add some flavour and spontaneity to your sex life. About as obvious as a cell phone, you will have little trouble concealing this girly vibe and a lot a fun coming up with ideas to use it. I rate it 7/10.
