Are you sure he's STD free?
If you're on birth control & he's got no STDs then go for it!
Well, the decision is yours, know about the risks of std's and be certain you both are free. Now as far as the BCP, as long as you have taken the pill regularly, not missed any doses, and have taken if for the time to become effective, there is nothing as a "safe or unsafe zone". The point is through taking the BCP, you do not ovulate; therefore, you will not get preg. The only exception is; there are failure rates associated with any birth control.
Time to become effective? I thought it kicked in straight away.
With girlfriends we've always started having sex without condoms the same day they started taking the pill.
Depends on the pill; different pills take longer. There are ones that are effective taken on day one, there are other's that take 7 days, and still a few out there that take one full cycle before deemed effective. The most common prescribed these days either begin being effective day one or after 7 days.
And most doctors still recommend a full cycle. Maybe we are conservative.
Most women on the pil AND in a stable relationship use not other protection. Of each 100 of them having sex regularly for a year, three will become pregnant.
Now, you make your decision.

It only is safe the very first day.. if they take their first pill the very first day of their period.
I am a Sunday starter which meant I took my first pill the first Sunday after my period started.
The insert said I would be protected after 7 days, but my DR said to do one full cycle.
I had a lot of breakthru bleeding my whole first pack... so I knew my cycle was spastic. So I think I ended up waiting 2 cycles... rather be safe than sorry :)
Sounds like you have just been lucky thus far!!
