Bacteria is bacteria. UTI's are limited generally to the urinary system; however, any excess bacteria which is out of acceptable ranges can be given to another person. Think about strep throat. Normally yes, strep is found but when infected the count is out of control and if have saliva contact with another they are at risk.
Yeast? There is a great debate among docs & health care providers. I say if you have an infection there is a risk. People wonder why they get them recurrently then often treat the partner as well and they have been known to vanish.
Rule? Bacteria runs risks not something I would wish to share any infection with another person. If you have an infection sex should be off the table until treatment is complete and follow up is over.
sera is right on. You can have sex but use a condom. It is not uncommon for partners to pass bacterial infection back and forth - with or without symptoms.
Consider also that the human mouth is the source for many women's yeast infections.
i have noticed that everytime i become infected with a yeast infection, it becomes treated and then it comes right back! like it's never-ending. so i figured that my partner had it, and didn't know and just kept giving it to me when we had intercourse.
i just didn't want to offend him if i didn't have to, "hey, you need to treat yourself for a yeast infection"

thank you. my question has been answered. :D
Honey,
Make certain you know what you are talking about. UTI and yeast infections are very different things. Do not mix them up and do not treat without knowing which you have.
