My hubby and I were watching the Porn industry scandal on ABC last night. THey talked with a couple of gals that were in the industry and what happened when the porn industry was finally shocked with one of their own getting HIV.
It also talked bout the life in porn with a girl who when she was 18 got into porn and 3 years later is still in the industry and wants to get out, but, because of the money couldn't bring herself to get out.
Yet the money they make is far less than what I even imagined they made.
Anyone else watch this special with Diane Sawyer on Primetime Live last night?

I was completely shocked at what I saw.
I like probably alot of people have enjoyed watching porn. We added it into our sex life to spice it up a bit. I am definately going through and downsizing our collection and getting rid of some of the dvds that have some nasty porn in it. We actually have a few tapes which condoms are used, which really I was glad to see. It is really degrading the way they treat the women in porn.
I'm not sure if you caught it or not, but, it seems like the men stay in the industry longer than the women actually do. I guess you can see why when the have fresh faces, women, coming into the business every day thinking that this is one of the ways into hollywood to becoming a star. Not a porn star either.
I was also shocked at what they were being paid, I mean anywhere from $300 - $1500 depending on how well they were known to what they were willing to do for the money. Geez, I figured that that amount would've been a heck of alot high than what it actually was. Especially considering that they don't have any kind of health care or testing that's paid for or anything of the sort.
I have always thought it horrible that the straight porn industry didn't seem to think that HIV/AIDS could happen to them. You almost never see condoms in straight films. Not only is it dangerous for the people involved, but what kind of message does it send out to the people (sometimes young people) watching it? It's okay to have sex without a condom?? GET REAL!
I'm sad to say that I've even heard rumors that the gay porn industry is doing this sometimes. It's called "barebacking", and it's highly dangerous. And again, sends out a horrible message.
I don't particularly like condoms, myself, but until someone comes up with a way to keep sex from being deadly, then I'll continue to use them- and would like to see that those in porn use them.
while I do like porn, or atleast some kinds of it, I do think that more precautions need to be taken sometimes and more warnings should come with things...especially when it comes to the sanitary stuff like going from anal to oral or anal to vaginal. it's just not clean.
I also do not buy porn. I never have. I know where to get free movies. Sometimes lasting up to half an hour or more (depending on how many clips there are). Each day I DL a part and then later combine the clips.
So the people who exploit others sure aren't making money off of me.
Yes I watched it and I found it heart breaking. These girls risk their lives because people don't want to see condoms. I for one like to see condom used and I like to see some reality. Like no anal and then going right to oral. Gross negligence on the part of the Porn industry and the goverment for not making it illegal not to use condoms in the films. Believe me I would shut them down in heart beat if I had the power.
They don't take women that know what they are doing. They use young girls for pure exploitation. That one woman was beat on film and never told that was going to happen. They are forced to do more and more for what money they get.
I am going on a porn ban and won't watch them anymore. I had stopped for personal reasons for years and let my husband talk me back into watching them. Well after last night and being made so aware of what goes on I can no longer in good conscience see them.
I know I sound harsh and mad. I am. I have a daughter and I watched those girls and thought of her being treated like that. They are someone's daughter. And I for one am tired of turning a blind eye to their pain and abuse. At least they won't get my money.
