Will masturbation break hymen?

I’m a 21 year old virgin, finally comfortable enough with someone to want to have sex. The problem is that I am really embarrassed about my virginity, and he doesn’t know that I am one. I'm really embarassed that I'll bleed and he'll know. I have been masturbating since I was 16 and achieved many orgasms under the showerhead. Do you think this will have broken my hymen? Will I still bleed?

Thanks in advance, this is such a great site!

Being virgin is nothing to be ashames of. We all began life as virgins and different ones of us have valued and protected that differently.

If you are a tampon user, your hymen is likely gone; if you have only used pads, it is possibly still there. If you have been active in sport, it is quite possibly gone or at least torn beyond being an obstacle. If you have inserted anything in masturbation, that would likely remove it. The orgasms, alone, would not break your hymen. In the modern world it is likely that only about half of us bleed. All of us bleed unexpectedly and if he is "experienced" he may have encountered that. You can always choose to start during your period and then it would not even be noticeable.

If you want to check, sit on the front of a chair with a lamp directed at your pudenda. Hold a mirror insuch position that you can examine yourself clearly and spread your lips, inner and outer, with your fingers. The hymen is an annular tissue right at the entrance to your vagina. If you can see it, it is ther; if not, you have ruptured it in the course of normal living. If it is there is and you do not want it to be, grease up an object about the size of a penis, about the size of the circle you make joining the tips of your thumb and index finger. I often use an old cologne bottle that is shaped nicely and has been empty for years and years.

What difference does it make if he discovers you are virgin? Too many men are hung up on "getting a virgin" and it may actually thrill him.

Oh, and make sure you are well protected - condom and vaginal jelly. The jally will make entrance easier as well as being spermicidal.

Brandye's right. 21 isn't particularly old for being a virgin, and I can guarantee that while your boyfriend might be a bit surprised to find out that you're a virgin, he won't be upset or disappointed.

yes, but being 14 i have a quick question to ask you all.

what is a hymen, and, what is its importance?

thanks.

Your hymen is a thin layer of skin at the opening of your vagina.

There's no real importance to it. Some people still define it as being a virgin but it really doesn't mean that anymore. Girls these days tend to lose their hymens due to sports and tampons. If your hymen isn't there, it doesn't mean you're not still a virgin.

Here's an article I found in a search.
http://www.soc.ucsb.edu/sexinfo/?article=anatomy&refid=027
It has drawings on it, not real pictures, but you have been warned anyways.

thanks. one more question.

how do you lose a layer of skin?

Well in most cases, if the hymen is there, it has at least one small hole or tear in it to allow the blood from the girls period to come out of. You poke at it enough or stretch it enough, it will tear itself even more and eventually wear away.

It's like imagine poking at a little hole in a plastic bag. Eventually the hole will start to get bigger, right? And it, just like the hymen, will not "grow back" to it's original form. While the plastic is still there, it's just stretched, the hymen just disintegrates over time.

ah ok, i see.

that makes sense to me :)

Champ,

go to google and pu in "female sexual anatomy" or "female genitalia." Some stuff we should look up for ourselves rather than ask for someone else to tell you. The learning is more important. And, althoug Tease is as dependable as anyone here, some others do not necessarily know what they are talking about.

alright, thanks.

she gave a really great site though, and i understand now because of it.

thanks :)

You can just type "hymen" into Google, as well.
