When are you old enough to lose your virginity?

I'm 14, my b/f is 15. We're really close to each other, we've fooled around, ect. However, we want to post-pone having sex for awhile for safety/moral reasons, and I think we are to young to be having sex. When do you think is a good age to start having sex?

First off, I have to whole heartedly commend you for actually thinking this through and asking for suggestions...that is AWESOME!!....life can bring so many different styles of stress and the least we can do is minimize the stress that we "CHOOSE" to bring into our lives....you really need to enjoy life with the least amount of stress,,,uneducated sex can bring a whole lot of unnecessary stress, do your research as Brandye and oberon have suggested...and keep asking questions, then make that "personal" decision when you are totally comfortable....I still applaud you!!...have a great day!!

From the message board, scan down to Chick Chat. The primary considerations are under Am I Ready. Only you can decide but please consider all that is discussed there. As a teen, it is difficult sweating out your period each month.

Choosing when to have sex is a highly personal and subjective issue. Some might be ready at a younger age, while others are not.

My personal view is that when you can consider all the consequences of having sex {pregnancy, STDs, safety issues, emotional baggage} and say, "I can deal responsibly with that if it happens", then you are ready to consider having sex.
