Hi everyone.... I wanted to pose a simple but well argued/debated scenario: Vaginal "rejuvenation".
I have done my research and it appears the vast majority of "cosmetic surgeries" related to the vagina are directly applied to either increasing the tightness of the vagina, [as a whole structure]; or reducing the Labia minora surgically.
When I read this, (as a female...and as a rational human being), my immediate thought was: "what the fuc# have we allowed/submitted to as a human race????!"
Now we are surgically deciding what makes a sexual entity more aesthetically appealing???? Sense when does a vagina become more sexual because the labia are surgically reduced? That same vagina is amazingly capable of delivering a human baby...but, unfortunately it is not aesthetically pleasing enough for current society?
I can almost understand this insane need for an outward female "beauty" currently portrayed in today’s society...but I think we have officially reached our breaking point when we decided to dictate what a vagina should and should not LOOK LIKE!

What is wrong with a vagina???

I have NO IDEA why anyone would be trying to surgically alter a vagina as per what you state? that is absurd as guys asking to get their penis lengthend?? nothing wrong with longer lips...tightness can be acheived by kegels...YIKES, a lady with LICENSED kegels can be incredible!...:)
I agree with HardNGood on this one. I really don't understand it at all.
Of course, I readily admit I am not the brightest person around but aren't
somethings simply not suppose to be "messed" with??

The main cause is FEAR. Not being tight enough, not being pretty enough, yadda, yadda, yadda. IF women would just 'get over' fearing such things and they'd realise that men desire them as they are, this would all just go away.
Ladies, men are ELATED that you even notice they're there. You do NOT have to be this, that, or the other. Just be YOU.
The various procedures performed on the female genitalia began with great intention. There are women who cannot sit or walk or have sex comfortable because of malformation of the labia. There are some labia and vaginas damaged in childbirth or other accidents. These are real quality of life surgeries that are fully justified in my mind. You address the popularization of these for cosmetic purposes and I agree with your concerns.
None of us are perfectly content with our bodies. Our breasts or our genitals make us feel inferior as women. These feelings are societally induced and you can see it happening watching young women grow up. Like so much good medicine, it can be perverted to other personal gratification - shape for a woman and money for a doctor. I think the reconstruction of the hymen is one step away from an appendix transplant!
ok what? i hate the idea of any kind of cosmetic surgery anyway and i'm one of thoughs people who love the natural human form and dont even bother with make-up. I've never had any complaints with the way i look so never thought is needed but the idea of having surgery on your genitals? what the hell is the point? (other than if you have been in an accident or whatever) they are how they are, but then i guess thats just like peoples bodies. insecurity, i hate the word and attitude.
Lust,
If your labia hd developed to the point you could not have sex, nor even sit comfortably, you may think a bit differently.
Visit some sites for labial reduction surgery and you will see some of the reasons these procedures were developed.
now I'll admit it's vain, but what the hell isn't today. If someone wants to change their nose, let em if they want to waste the money. And I'll tell ya, as perverted as it may sound there is something to be said for a pretty pussy lol. Im no advocate of cosmetic surgery, but you guys arent even really arguing about this, its all coming from the same side. Cosmetic surgery is good for the economy, it makes women feel at the very least properly functional and at the best I would imagine sexy and empowered. There are things about all of us we wished we could change at one time or another, and if you dont like those lips hangin down and you have the money to do something about it, why wouldn't you?
Sodook - you may want to give this issue a bit more thought. Body modification is not exactly a "friendly" subject for women.
This is still less offensive than breast implants...
I don't really see how this surgery makes any difference in the grand scheme of things. Doesn't make sense to me for cosmetic reasons, but I'm not really against it if that's what someone wants to do. I don't care - it's nowhere near as bad as a girl with a chest-full of silicone bags...
Think foot binding, ritualized and forced clitoris removal - I could go on but I'll spare you. Women, okay - some of us, have enough problems dealing with negative body image in one way or another. Rather than saying "if ya wanna" say "if medically necessary".
