What STDs should virgins get checked for

Okay so me and my girlfriend have been together for almost 2 years now. Were both 19, and we've started doing some sexual things. We take things slow because we like it. But we've now pleasured each other quite a bit with our hands and in not too much time we're going to move on to oral.

Neither of us have ever had sex before, oral or intercourse. We're both complete virgins in those categories. However, my girlfriend wants us to get checked for STDs just to be on the safe side, since some of them you can either be born with or you can contract from methods other than sex. My question though is what should we get checked for? I have no problem going to the doctor just to double check that we're clean, but with so many STDs I don't know where to start. Is there some kind of standard test they can do? Or are there certain STDs that are contracted non-sexually that are good candidates to be tested for? I'd appreciate any help.

Those that you may have been "born with" would have surfaced long ago. If neither of you has exchanged bodily fluids with anyone else, there is no reason to check. All women should have a gyn exam before becoming sexually active and there will be some testing with that. Make her feel good and ask your doctor, or a clinic, to check you out. If she still meets the guidelines for wherever you are, the Gardasil shots protecting her from HPV are recommended.

Nothing in particular that is recommended.

They take two vials of blood - one for HIV/AIDS - and will let you know if you have anything later. As part of her gyne exam she'll have some swabs taken as well.

In any case - USE CONDOMS - ALWAYS
