Hey, I'm new.. I've been browsing the forums a lot but not registering or posting.
Alright, I started on the shot (Depo Provera) on January 9th, and two weeks after, when I was supposed to get my period, I didn't, which I've heard is nothing to worry about and pretty normal after you get the shot, but who knows.
Now this month, I've got it right on time and am on the third day whatsoever. Its a little different then it use to be, but nothing to worry about until now, and I'm sure nothing to worry about, but I'd just really like to know what the heck just happen.
I just passed a huge, HUGE clot of dark dark red, almost black stuff, that almost looked solid and jelly like.. I've had this stuff before, but never this gigantic..., just in little blots here and there.. this thing was the size of.. well, imagine this, if you put your thumb and index finger together at the tip, it would be the size of the circle that forms in the middle.
What could have made that happen? Is it maybe old stuff from last month that I didnt get out because I didn't have my period?

If you are on the Depo, it takes a while for your cycle to completely stop. When you get your second shot, all bleeding generally stops; although you can still get breakthrough bleeding, it will stop all together. The "black" is just old blood; it does not always have to be bright red in color. During your period your sheds the endometrial lining. Since you are not having a "regular" cycle your body needs time to regulate its self and it will eventually stop your period all together.
i have had the depo on the first day of my period and i am still spotting 5 days after my period which is unusal.
will it stop?
Yes it will...it takes a while, as I said it is not uncommon to have spotting intermittantly until the second shot.
o how fun lol
thanks
Yeap, I know just what you are saying...I kept thinking, this is why they call it birth control, you cannot do anything!!! But on the brighter side all bleeding will stop & it was nice not to have a cycle for the next year and half!!! But if you think you want to have kids in the near future, talk to the doctor. It took me nearly a full year to restore a cycle & had to do so with medications.
It gets better as time goes on!
I will be fine I do NOT want to have kidsin the near future lol
Thanks v. much for the advice and you are right about the whole why it is birth control lol
