I have done stuff on my cam and it is only good if you do have a connection to the person your with. If you both are feeling it then it can be great. The man I am with now is wonderful at making me feel desirable and wanted. I feel comfortable enough to do things for him and for myself. I consider it real sex in a very real way.

Now that is just me. I am sure there are lots out there that love cam play and don't need to have an emotional connection. Depends on what you are looking for I guess.

I'm a VERY avid webcam user!

Let's go over a few things i've learned:

1) Computer:If you don't have a webcam yet, make sure you check your computer's speed, operating system, processor, etc. You need to make sure you know this before u buy a camera. Most camera's require either a serial or USB port to connect to yourcomputer..make sure u have an open port.
Your processor is key - the faster the processor, the better the quality of sending and receiving video signals! Oh, make sure u have plenty or RAM too.

2) Webcams: There are dozens of webcam's available...those under $100 are used by the vast majority of webcammers. The main limitation of most of those cams are that they don't have any "zoom" capability. If you want to move the cam, you have to get up and move it. There are models that have a remote zoom and that can be alot more fun. Be sure you read online reviews of each cam, they really can point u to the best model. I say, buy one in the $70-90 range....usually a really good cam and quality video.

3) Internet Connection: Ok, to really enjoy internet webcamming you need a highspeed modem. Either DSL or cable modem. Dial=up connections are slow and make it tough to really get the full value of 30 frames/sec.

4) Lighting: Probably the most overlooked issue in webcamming islighting. Forget mood lighting when u are on cam...you need light, and alot of it to really get the best results. Just be ready with a small portable light with at LEAST 100 watts.

5) Where to connect: Ok, Yahoo messenger and MSN messenger both have free webcam ability built into their software - and it's free. Thats the good part, the bad part is that you're on your own to find folks who also have yahoo/msn. The chat rooms in both are "ok" but 90% of those in the rooms do not have cams. You'll need to look for the icons that show who has a cam and who dosn't. Now, once u get the names of folks u like to see on cam, u can add them to your buddy list. So, as logn as you're patient, Yahoo (my fav for 1on1 camming) is a great program.

There are now HUNDREDS of PAY webcam host sites out there. iFriends is one of the biggest, but there seems to be alot of folks who charge to see them on cam. I also suggest you try: ICUII and PalTalk. They are very userfriendly, and you can preview folks before you let them see you.

Just make sure u read the privacy policy and how to cancel a subscription if u dont like the site! Oh, watchthose "auto-reorder" features too!

A few comments:

Webcams can be incredible fun and, um, incredible "sex aids," particularly one on one with someone you at least know a bit. But a cam in and of itself does nothing... there must be something more - a connection between the people, some energy, some ability to communicate and willingness to share...

Most of the Webcam sites are really just chat rooms with visuals. As such, you experience all of the same things (trolls, weirdos, etc.) and have to wade through a lot of bull. From my little experience visiting cam sites, there are lots more guys than gals and it's a lousy way to meet "kindred spirits."

If you're interested in "watching" porn is a better bet. If you're interested in adding a dimension to a LDR or chatting, a web cam is worth the small cost.
