Can you get an std from a virgin?
When i say virgin, i mean 100%, no sex(no intercourse, oral, fingering or anything of that sort)
Obviously, being virgins, they can't have gotten an STD from another person during sex. but, is it possible to get an std, other than sex/sex related activities?
No real reason i'm asking, just something my mind strayed to earlier.
My thought was yes they can. Surely not every STD is contracted ONLY by sex, there must be a few that can also be obtained some other way.
But then i found [URL="http://www.dph.sf.ca.us/sfcityclinic/drk/stdprevention25.asp"]this.
Anyone know this?
(i know the obvious answer is STD = SEXUAL TRANSMITTED disease, so please don't say it :p, i'm just thinking that just because it's sexualy transmitted doesn't mean sexualy is the ONLY way it's transmitted/contracted, or am i wrong)

If the person has had no sexual contact with another person then the answer is no, to the "general" or common STD's. Now, what you can catch is HSV I where there are oral lesions when someone has oral Herpes which is a virus spread through kissing and can be transmitted through oral/genital contact. Then there are a whole host of other illnesses such as mono, CMV, EBV, yeast infections, etc which can be spread through contact with another person.
There are a small number of STD's that can be transmitted without sexual contact, for example HIV, some forms of hepatitus. It's possible to transmit herpes without sexual contact. However, this is more commonly found HSV1 (herpes simplex virus 1) more commonly known as cold sores, and this is for the most part not considered an STD.
So, and the answer remains you're pretty safe if having sex with a virgin. Certainly so if that person is known not to have the above mentioned issues.
EEguy:
HIV & Hepatitis B are very low risk for being caught without sex unless you are sharing needles, etc or exchanging body fluids namely blood or semen--highly unlikely for a virgin unless she was born positive for HIV. Hep A is due to water/sewage contamination. Hep C there is no real idea of the spread since many health care providers are showing positive without an infected partner. I have yet to see a person contact HSVII without SOME form of sexual contact.
