First, I am not much into toys of any sort but have tried a few vibrators. In Europe, the old fashioned "Swedish" massager (a motor strapped to the hand with steel springs) was displaced as the tool of choice by the Hitachi Magic Wand a few decades ago. I have each of those and they do the job. They are also plugged into the mains as batteries were not up to the task in those days. My sister has a Sybian but that is in a class by itself.
Against that backdrop, I have been disappointed by any of the battery powered vibrators I have used, all owned by girlfriends who were generally similarly disappointed. I will let it up to serious vibe users to make recommendations but the only one I would consider owning is the Hitachi Magic Wand and it is hardly usable at dinner.
Hi Brandye, thanks for the response. We have used on numerous occasions a vibrator similar to that of the magic wand but this as you say, does not make for pleasant dinner conversation! What we are looking for is not neccesarily a remote vibe to result in orgasm (although this would be the ideal) but really something that has enough of a vibe to result in pleasurable vibrations from the perspective of arousing her during a dinner or similar in order to heighten the senses for more "excitable" interaction once out of ear shot of the main dinning room. Here is some technical info that might help you navigate the swamp of fake and generic subjective reviews to make a choice.
The main problems with an egg like you want are likely:
You will probably always need an antennae hanging out, as the radio frequencies are absorbed and blocked by water(the human body). Expect signal cutouts when moving around as legs, hips, and other body parts block the line of sight between the egg and remote.

Anything that costs less than $60, or more likely $90, isn't going to be made with the correct type of battery or motor to do what you want unless she happens to be extremely sensitive.
I didn't see many at all that would fit those standards after a quick cursory review of adult online stores, but the Lelo Lyla 2 stood out. The motor and battery housing inside of the Lelo Gigi doesn't actually take up the entire length and I could see them fitting components with similar power inside of something the Lyla 2's size. While nowhere near a Sybian or Hitachi in terms of raw power, the Gigi was much more rumbling powerful with larger stroke length(better for internal stimulation) than others my S.O. and I have seen.
I also noticed that it uses the same silicone coating with a small bit of abs plastic at the base similar to the rest of their line, which could have small crevices in the seam between the two that could harbor bacteria so be sure to clean it well in between uses if you try it out. Don't boil it since lithium batteries and high heat really don't play well together.
As a side note, you might want to talk with her about why she is so self-conscious since anxieties and stress create mental blocks that prevent her from really letting go and enjoying herself and your time together.
