i have this problem that every once in a while i have this weird light green discharge that lasts about a day, i havn't been able to track it to see if it has a pattern but i'm kind of worried because it's kinda like cottage cheese but it doesn't happen all the time. i am also scared because i am a teen and don't know how to ask my mom to get a check up and even if i did i would be nervous to go to the doctor about it, cuz i'm very self concious. any advice?

vaginal discharge?

thanks, my mom is getting me an appointments to get it checked out so hopefully i will get some answers soon.
I recommend a visit to your doctor.
Here is a link to some information that might be helpful:

ok, so i think the closest symptomes i have to this is vaginitis, can i get something for it over the counter so i don't have to go to the doctor? i really dislike doctors and distrust them.
one more thing is that i am a virgin and me and my boyfriend want to have sex, if i do it when i don't have discharge could it hurt him if it isn't fixed?
Get to your doctor! We are not doctors, so we can only give you our ideas about what something might be based on the info you give us. That is not a substitute for medical care. You might have vaginitis, you might have something else. Since you are a virgin this is most likely not an STD, but if you've been sexually active in other ways this is possible.
The bottom line is, no one here can tell you what you have or whether it is serious or not. We also can't treat you for what you have. Please, just tell your mom you have an infection and need to see a doctor. It's really nothing to be embarrassed about.
If you absolutely don't want to see your family doctor, most towns have a free health care clinic that you can make an appointment at. Where I live there are several of these that are totally free and confidential, so you would not need your mom's permission to go there and she wouldn't need to know that you do. I think your best bet is to get to one of these. You can also get FREE contraceptives (like the Pill and condoms) at these, which you should be getting pretty soon if you and your bf are thinking about sex.
Good luck!
I highly doubt that I'm pregnant -- my boyfriend has never ejaculated in me without a condom on, and I ALWAYS use two forms of protection -- either my pill and the condom, or my pill and spermicidal strips or foam.
Over the past few days I've noticed that my discharge is abnormal. The last time I had sex was Saturday evening -- right now it is Thursday morning. I had sex without a condom but had inserted a spermicidal strip, and then we continued with a condom until he came.
My discharge is normal -- thin and clear -- but there seems to be this stringy off-white-ish stuff in there too. It almost seems like it could be thick cum (that's impossible), or even the nonoxynol from a condom, but it looks more natural than that.
I have to admit that I didn't exactly time when I put the strip in (supposed to wait 15 minutes), but it seemed to be around that time when we started. Could it not have dissolved fully and is now coming out?
the condom DID NOT break. We checked it afterwards.
I have to wait a week and a half until my period should start.
Can anyone tell me what this might be? It's really getting to me.
Thank you.
thanks browneyedgirl, but before i go i wanted to ask one more question, could it have cleared up by itself? i havn't had this discharge in a while and it generally is randome, can they still detect it if the discharge is not there when they look? i don't want to look like the idiot that went to the doctor for something that wasn't there.

I would guess this is a normal part of your cycle that you haven't noticed before. There are times of the month when your discharge will be thicker and have a whitish color, and this is totally normal.

Well, if it is an infection then yes it could probably clear itself up. My only concern there would be if it were possibly an STD, since these do not clear themselves up. It's important to remember here, the most common symptom of STDs is no symptom at all... so it's always good to be safe.
Short of STDs, though, if it has cleared up then you are probably fine. I would definitely see a doctor if this occurs again, though.
Good luck!
