Is Using Condoms still vulnerable to pregnancy?

Well the question is well stated above and below hehe

" is using condoms still vulnerable to pregnancy?"

Why is it vulnerable????

How will the girl get pregnant if a guy uses condoms and cums outside of the girls vagina (still wearing the condom)???

Birth Control Failure Rates

Nothing is really 100%.
Main reason for any BC to fail is user error.

W/ condoms, they could break. Also, if a guy cums inside her w/ the condom on...and doesn't pull out soon enough... some semen could leak out the bottom.

I would assume that pulling out before you cum would lessen this occurance... but then there is always the issue of breakage.

In the link above, most suggest 2 types of BC. A condom along w/ a spermicidal foam/insert/film...etc... so that if the condom breaks or a sperm sneaks out the bottom.. you have a backup there to get it!

You know they say pull out immediately after cumming, so it doesnt leak or slip off, but I have never had that problem. I mean I almost have to be completely soft before it will slide of with just a bit of pressure. (like the pressure from a vagina, or a slight tug with your hand) and it hasnt actually ever leaked out...I pulled out and fell asleep after, woke up and no problems....but then again thats me.

The most common cause of condom "failure" is sperm swimming around the open end. The penis does not have to get too soft before they are looking for a way.

I assume, ducy, you did a microscopin analysis before saying they do not do this with you.

Brandye.....you know I didnt. I am also not saying I wouldnt pull out immediately after cumming...I simply did the look feel test, to see if there was any semen...it i could feel anything, or it seemed "glossy" then I figured there was something. I think Im really going to just stop talking now....

In vaginal swabs ten mintes after intercourse about ten percent of women were found to have sperm present along with the marker protein of semen. Very few sperm but present nonetheless and otherwise undetectable. That is the biggest reason we recommend condom use be accompanied by vaginal spermicide. Considering that nearly fifteen percent of women using condoms alone for a year become pregnant, condoms have a big enough error rate even following directions.

The point is when we say we "never had that problem," some young folks will think they can get away with it. I did and was lucky. Some of my friends were not that lucky and that is when I started adding spermicide every time.

I dont risk it...I mean I pull out as soon as Im done...usually right as it starts...I mean I dont really see a point in letting myself soften up while inside. I would rather just relax so I pull out asap so relaxation can begin....

I am well aware that nothing can be considered as a totally safe method when it comes to stop unplanned pregnancy! Mind you even the morning after pills do not guarantee a 100% success rate and condoms can always be vulnerable to accidental spills for sure. However I heard from one of my experienced friends in the matter of sexual affairs that he does not use condoms at all! He also pulls out at the time when he is assured he is going to cum. Now is this possible for all? I mean at the situation is it possible to have control over the senses? Or is my friend an exceptional character and exceptions as we all know prevail everywhere.

As stated, there is always the possibility of error. For the first six months or so that I was having regular sex, I used only a condom. The anxiety of that alone was enough reason to merit another form of birth control. I was so grateful every time that I got my period, and so worried that anything - from a little stomach ache on - could be a sign of pregnancy. Since then I've been on hormonal birth control. For all reasons, use birth control!

Snowstorm,

That "method" is not only dangerous for all, it is also dangerous for your "experienced" friend. Click the link in Demon's post above and do not even think of depending upon withdrawal unless you are ready for parenthood.

The male reproductive tract, especially when aroused, is full of sperm. As your friend is pumping away, he is putting sperm into his partner's vagina in small, but dangerous, numbers. The only reason a penis is put in an unprotected vagina is to have children.

Browneyedgirl,

I appreciate your post. So often I have addressed the stress of worrying from period to period. You put reality to that.

Scary!!!!
Plus, if he's so "experienced"
He's sharing that and who knows what else w/ a lot of ladies!!

I would say your friend has just had dumb luck... w/ emphasis on "dumb" LOL :)

Wait.. Are these swabs done after condom usage, or not? Its not really clear there, but I'd guess yes. If so, then ok fair enough. If not, then where do they all go if only 10% of women have them after 10 minutes?

Rhythm method does not work, precum has a small but significant amount of sperm. I suppose my partner and I are slightly paranoid. He use condoms and he pulls out before ejaculation but I'm also on the pill. We figured we'd cover all bases since everything has a failure rate. Also, when it comes to birth control we always use well known brand names.

About ten minutes after intercourse with a condom vaginal swabs are taken. Microscopic analysis identifies sperm (they are very identifiable) and strips with a chemical reagent detect semen - the vehicle that moves the sperm from boy to girl. The fact that the tests find these thing in a bit under ten percent of all women in the tests indicate that many sperm are out the open end of the condom pretty quickly.

If no condom is used, the semen can be smelled, shows up under ultra-violet light and many, many sperm are present. You do not realize what a mess we really are after screwing until you see it in the "proper light."

All I can say is, it would suck to be part of that study. What a mood killer. "Ok, go into that room and have sex, then come lay on the table and we'll put you under some microscopes and ultra-violet lights and see if there's any semen."

I have often wondered about subjects for these studies. Even the old masturbation studies. No way I could get myself off with a camera pointed at my bottom and measuring devices to check myotonia!

But, then, in these studies of condom efficacy, the women need not be in the mood- only receptive. No way for this chick!
