Ok, I have a urinary track infection. I know the basic causes of this infection(due to bacteria in the urinary track) But how did I get it there? This past weekend I went to the beach with my b/f. We did have sex during this time, but could the beach have something to do with this infection. (I have had unprotected sex before with him).
Also, how does sex actually cause urinary track infections?
Is there a way to still have condom less sex and lower the risks of getting a
Urinary track infection again?

Women are more prone than men b/c there urethras are shorter from the outside to the bladder.
Sex does lend to it b/c just think of all the things lurking around.
Bacteria could be on fingers/mouths/ stuff from the backdoor could make it's way to the front.... rubbing up against eachother can cause dirt/sweat to make it down there.
Most just advise to always pee after sex to flush out anything.
I wrote this a while ago for this reason:

And as Sera stated in her other post, please go see a doctor. You don't want for it to get into kidneys, and it probably won't go away on its owe. Trust me, I learned that lesson
