I've recently read "The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women" by Tristan Taormino; an award-winning author, columnist, editor, and sex educator.
I think it's a great book! :) I'd highly recommend it! Not just for women (as title may imply) also for men. It's very practical, down to earth and direct. Plus: it's very easy reading. I've read it in about 5 hours (skipped 3 chapters, that's too much for me as a beginner )
It covers every aspect;
-myths about anal sex (whatever story got stuck in your mind and is NOT based on facts)
-anal anatomy & anal health,
-the emotional/psychological aspects
-preparing the anus & hygene (including several options onenema's/douches),
-pleasuring the anus (masturbating and with your partner: stroking, licking, fingering, etc),
-toys (all sorts and the difference),
-lubricants (including a list of brands),
-safe anal sex,
-penetration
-positions
-anal sex for men (prostatestimulation, strap-ons, etc)
-chapters for the experienced/advanced anal player; BDSM, bondage, fisting, etc
Since I'm a beginner; I can't tell you if it all "works", but I've found her masturbationtips to be useful :)
So; anyone else who have read this book and like to comment on it? Perhaps with more anal sex-experience?
Or perhaps you have read the "The anal sex positions Guide" by the same author? Does it compliment or more like repeat the first?

That sounds like a really good book for any one interested in anal sex. Both books should be part of any sex enthusiasts library.I'm a relative beginner to anal intercourse and am still a little unsure about my feelings towards this.I'd like to read the book and the other one too.Where would i be able to get them,i'm very curious and they would help to allieviate my fears in regards to anal sex.
I thinks the Author is full of s***. Misery loves company and she's peddling her filth and degradation to any and all willing to part with their money
Oh silly muddle headed me.I think i have had too many late nights recently that have addled my brain,of course you are right Brandye:orolleyes::o
Aphrodite, you are sitting at a computer and connected to the internet. How might you be able to locate the book?

I doubt that... given her monthly enema ;):):D
All fun and jokes aside. Since you so heavily comment on it, I take it you've at least read it? Scrutinized it? Put (parts) into practice?
In my opinion, such severe comments would require that... If they should be made at all in such manner. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and to share is the very purpose of this forum. But your comment is more like a personal attack on the author, than it is usefull critique. I'm sorry to say this, dear Lisa, but frankly I'm somewhat disapointed to read this on a forum that usually holds high standards... :(
quote from LustyLisa [Generally speaking I really could care less what others do and find enjoyable in their intimate lives. However I do take offence to potential of mainstreaming anal sex in all sexual catagories. I'm morally, medically and personally repulsed by the thoughts of anal sex. I personlly think that it should be out lawed in every country and porn/flesh peddlers ought to be hung or given leathal injections for the menance and ill effects they plague society with.]
I think that explains that. A bad experience sometime lead to a lot of assumptions and hatred.
I saw the video version of this a few years back. While many things were practical, I was bothered that most medical things were overlooked - specifically the delicate nature of the rectal lining and the abrasiveness and irritation on the microscopic scale with different types of lube and materials.
While some women I've been with have really enjoyed anal stimulation, anal sex itself is not something I'm comfortable doing because I have a very large girth and I do not wish to stretch things that much. They can stretch over time to fit but I don't think it's a good idea or should.

A vid? Interesting :) I read the second edition of the book in which she did add more info on health aspects. FE the lubequestion and it's effects is thoroughly discussed. According to her own words she did revise the entire book and added a lot based on questions asked. Her digging for answer resulted in learning even more about it.
Only thing that still confuses me would be the continuous debate on whether or not anal sex could cause loss of muscletone and even incontenence. Several md's warn about this and the logic makes perfect sense. Yet there are also medical professionals who declare this myth. Even Sensoa (Belgian governmental organization on sexual health & education) states on their website that anal sex does not damage sphinxters in any way and anal sex is not risky on your health, accept for the risk on Std's. At least everyone agrees that when performed incorrectly it could do damage. We'll see when that debate ends. Though I love to learn more, by now I'm probably better informed about this than the other 100 or even 1000 things I do every day that unknowingly either wracks or nurses my body ;)
I've never been a huge fan of anal sex.To be honest it repulsed me.The thought of having a penis up where the sun don't shine EEEWWW!!But my then husband kept pestering me and trying to go under the radar.I must have been in a generous and giving mood one day because when he asked for anal sex again as usual i said yes.It hurt like any thing when he inserted his penis but i didn't scream.Just sucked in my breath and gritted my teeth. It helped that he boosted my ego by praising and complementing my derrierre that he told me he worshipped and had a fetish for.I actually wished that i hadn't put it off so long as i found i liked it.It's not something i like all the time,i have to be in the mood. But when i am i'm rolling in clover like a contented puppy dog
