I am surprised that there has been little mention of razor burn and ingrown hairs... I would love to shave myself but it ends up looking worse because I get ingrown hairs and red bumps! I used a new shaver, lathered up and "went with the grain" but to no avail! Any suggestions?

My two cents (and first post)... I recently asked a stripper for her tips and she said to use deodorant like ratiratnapradipika mentioned above and I can say IT WORKS!

I got with this bird once and she had a proper bit o' bush, i just did it anyway. Its the smell u wana be looking out for

i use this new aveeno special sensitive skin shaving cream. it doesn't prevent it completely, but it helps some

As for the deodorant... yep, I use a solid and I just rub it on like I do on my under arms. I use a little less and it seems to work just great!

Another tip, Noxzema makes a 'bikini line' razor. It's much narrower then a regular razor, it's about a half inch wide. I don't recommend it for the whole area, but they do work OK for the 'tight' spots.
Just explain to her how it would make it better for her because you can do a better job at pleasing her if she trimmed it because then the hair isn't all in the way and you can see better at what you are doing.
I mentioned it once or twice but she got upset - she's very self concious about it She never said she was upset but I could tell and got it out of her in the end. I'm toying with the idea of leading by example as a subtle way. But I have no idea how to begin, or maintain it. Shaving facial stubble is one thing - I have had 13 years odd practice! I would love to be able to sensitively broach the subject with her. Like I said she's very self concious.

Yo, i was wondering if i should shave my whole pubic area? what do most girls perfer?

To shave or not to shave

Well, if your not sure about shaving and your a guy, just get do a nice neat short trim of the whole area. Girls don't seem to mind this.

In my case, my girlfriend told me that she likes it all shaved off, so it really depends on the person. Just talk to your partner about it.

What exactly do you find wonderful about a guy shaving it all off? I do it, too, but I do it for personal preference; I wonder what women like about it!

For me..I hate hair in my mouth...i wanna be able to roam and not get a mouthful of hair, lol. Also, if it's not trimmed, my BF says it tangles a little, which is kinds not cool. (also collects sweat, semen, etc adding a bit too much smell of sex sometimes.

If you want to be completely denuded, go for waxing. As long as you moisturize you shouldn't have ingrown hair issues. ** Not however, for the faint of heart, the 1st couple of times hurt like hell, but if you trim everything to between 1/4 & 1/2 an inch before hand, it's not as bad.

im all shaven down there.... he loves it.

i've also shaven him.... hey i deserve no pubs between my teeth too!

I agree - I, too, find it more appealing for my girlfriend to shave, not to mention easier to handle. Also, not only is it cleaner, but it eliminates the sneezing when I'm going down on her :)

I don't know if I said before, but I shave myself, and I think it's perfect for both men and women - it's just a lot less to have to deal with.

Same question different angle. Whats the best way to shave the scrotum, its easy for the rest. Do woman really like it clean shaven or not? I agree to shave/trim each other but certain areas require alot more trust then others.

I do like the scrotum clean shaven.... I felt really bad, though, when my BF nicked himself there  :( But, I gag if there's long hair on his testicles when I want to lick/suck them :o He likes to shave the hair above his penis towards his belly, too, but I sorta like it scruffy there -- & I like it bushy on his chest

Dammit, I hate shaving down there. It irritates me so much. I hate doing it, but I'll do it for my bf, but sometimes I find vicious pleasure when he chokes on a hair, especially when he comments about it. Hmm, I am sadistic like that.

Well as luck would have it I can use my impending Circumcision as an excuse to shave down there - I've bought the Phillips Bodygroom electric razor as well.

RS

I have been clean shaved for a few years now and definatly prefer it, it all started by lossing a bet to my then gf.
Every gf I have had since said they liked it like that and I have them all bald as well before we broke up !!
Oral is much nicer in both recieving and giving and a females genitailia looks much nicer without a mop of hair covering it up.

I finally did it last weekend, shaved my balls and cock, but left a bit on the pubic area (though short) looks ok. My Fiancee loves it - she might even try it herself one day. It feels so much better too, I wish I'd done it earlier. I used the Phillips Bodygroom electric razor, and it's great all over, no pain at all.

I love to keep myself shaved. The extent of hair I leave varies from time to time. All last summer I kept my totally shaved and loved the feeling. Right now I trim with a patch above the shaft and shave the areas on the sides and have not shaved the scrotum yet. The wife says she doesn't care if I shave or not, so I shave. I would love it if she would go bare, but she says the itching is to bad. She shaves the area up top and leaves a little mound above the vagina and hair around the labia. I just wish she would shave the labia and leave the mound, but what she does keep shaved is just great and I'm not going to complain.

When I first suggested she shaved it took a while before she decided to try it. One time I offered to help and she let me, so I got to do more than she usually would do. That is when she decided the itching was too much. After this is when I thought I would try it to see what it was like. I shaved a little at a time and really enjoyed it. Eventually the patch about the penis was smaller and smaller and I just took it all off and shaved the scotum. Really loved it and have been shaving ever since. Not always totally bare though. The itching was bad at first, but I seem to have gotton use to it. Every time I let things start to grow for awhile, It isn't long before I start shaving again. The longest I have ever let it grow back on me is two months, then the razor comes out and I start taking it off.

I've recently made the connection that the itching is worst on the middle top area of the vulva -- where his body rubs against ... so I keep that area trimmed & the rest shaved now :)

Red faced

I didn't just stubble (he he) stumble across my nick. If she wants my face baby ass smooth, you bet she can keep that area well maintained.
I'm not getting whisker burn either.
I love to go down but, I'm not cumming up with rug burns on my face.

Hair is a pretty intimidating thing and like me, I have no way of getting it waxed (like I'd prefer), because of my age and lack of money. I have to shave it with a razor and I don't know if it's the same with any other women, my hair grows back FAST! Like-- a day later it's freaking stubbly, fast. My point is--It's not a very fun thing for a woman to shave and needless to say if you use a razor you're going to miss some spots, especially in the cracks and crevaces in between your legs unless you've got a mirror and a magnifying glass or something (Lol). So maybe you should just deal with the hair. If she's capable of getting wax, that's great. I've gotten myself into shaving for about two years now and I keep it exactly one way--everything shaved except a small strip at the top. It's not fun to have to shave it every time you get in the shower.

while shes sleeping, bruh.

How could you even shave you balls. If i tried i would give myself a cheap form of castration!

Wax
Well, Mr Love, shave yourself and see how it feels about four days later. An occasional pubic hair in the back of the throat is not nearly as bad as itching constantly.
Well i dont like a big muff, and i know she doesnt like flossing with my pubes. I used to trim way down, but i got bad bumps from shaving it. So i just decided to bite the bullet and get a full on brazilian wax. A brazilian is where they wax everything. Ass, crack, gouch pube patch, the entire area and my girlfriend likes it. I like it too. But not a whole lot of straight guys like me and are willing to do it. And not a whole lot of girls want to either. I say take a couple vicodin or percocet an hour befor you go and it just feels like taking off a bandaid.:D

Ok: I have to ask. I'm 34. I've never been 'taught' to trim myself. Is that something I should have figured out? My mother never told me, my friends and I never discussed it, how in the world does a girl learn that she should do this? The one time I trimmed, I felt like a moron. Like "If people only knew I did something like this..." Little did I know, it's something that I SHOULD have been doing.... Women who are reading this: How did you know that you should trim, and when?
How could you even shave you balls. If i tried i would give myself a cheap form of castration!
I do a clean sweep of everything in the shower. Just hold the scrotum or penis the way you need it to make a pass and then take a swipe. Make sure you move the razor slowly and you'll be fine.

Wife and I love it

I personally shave everything, including testicles, bald normally once a day, sometimes every other day. My wife shaves her area bald every other day. We both love it, it's just wonderful when i go down on her to not get any stuble or stray hairs. She loves to lick and kiss everything when she goes down on me and says she couldn't think of trying it any other way than bald.

I also notice that if you go slow and use a lot of shaving cream, there are generally no bumps.

Otherwise, the deoderant works and so does hand lotion most of the time.

Hope that helped,

Calming

I completely shave because I just like the feel of no hair. I've done it since I was 17 and trimmed before that since I can remember.
Sue -- I just heard something on the radio one day. The DJ was asking girls to call in and answer 3 questions, then he'd guess if they were shaven, trimmed, or "jungle". This was when I was quite young (around 15). So we never talked about it either.

I have a tip for you though if you start to shave and this goes for men as well. Use baby oil afterwards. If you place a little baby oil in your palm after you shower... and then pat it on the skin where you shaved, you won't get those red shave bumps. It also keeps your skin very smooth. It helps to do that before you dry off and then of course, just let that air dry which takes a few minutes.
I like going down on my girlfriend, but she doesn't shave or even trim. I brought up the subject once and she got really strange on me. What can I do?
She needs to be bald, period.

I doubt it. My boyfriend has done it a couple times and never once cut himself. The problem was, since he was new to it, he got a ton of razor burn near the top. It was red for days. And he said it itched like crazy. I told him he'd get used to it - so of course, he stopped. But he really enjoyed it when I went all out completely bald for our 10 month anniversary. I usually just shave down, (thus cutting the hairs super short) but this time I went all out. I've been shaving/trimming since I was about 12-13. It itches like hell down there if I don't. :D Plus I feel like a babe. Duh. <3

Hon,
hi, im kinda new so tell me if this dont sound right. i want my boyfriend to go down on me, not right away but some time in the future, preferably sooner then later. i was just wondering if anyone cud tell me what happens? do boys/men like it natural or shaven? do boys/men actually like to do it? e.t.c any info i would be gratful for as this is new teritory for me.
Keep in mind that I LOVE to give oral! If you are shaved bald it is so much easier to see what Im doing. And so much easier to please my lover. Personally, I think pubic hair is a turn off. If I am with a woman whom I love, I want to please her. I can give m to fm oral sex so much easier without the pubes in the way.

Maybe it's just because I have a younger sister (8 years behind me) I always thought that shaving myself bald made me feel like I was her age again, definately not a sexy woman!
I have shaved, and it itched like hell when it grew back, I swore never to do that again. I shave enough to wear a swimsuit, and trim the brush, but I let most of it grow. It took Doug a little to get used to, but really there aren't hairs on the "important" parts. Now that he is used to it he actually likes it, he says he would feel strange if I did shave.

My wife and I both use my beard trimmer and it works nicely.

Shaving down there

Atomic... Theres a few ways to shave if its your first time. You could either get an electric razor to trim down as much as possible, then in the bathtub, I find if you sit on the edge of the bathtub and lather up with shavingcream and shave in the way the hair grows. It will itch after about 2 days, but it'll go away. like they said before put powder down there. I use aveeno anit-itch cream and when its really annoying a warm wash cloth. That helps with the redness. You could also go a get a wax. It'll probably run you about 65-80 dollars, but at least you'd have a starting point and it'll be easier to take care of. As for your boyfriend, I can almost garuntee he'll appreciate it. Hope this helps.

..............

I have very strong and very dark hair growth and to keep it smooth I really do need to shave every day. I first shaved in February and have tried various things since then. I tried home waxing but found it too difficult.

Best thing I have found is an electric shaver called Seiko Cleancut which was apparently intended for the face but now sells more for pubic shaving. It will only shave very short stubble so is good for daily shaving and works better with a light dusting of talc. Also works well on underarms.

If I haven't shaved for a couple of days the Cleancut can't cope with it so I soak in the bath for ten minutes then, sitting on the side of the bath and using a mirror, I shave using a regular ladies razor and a shave gel that contains aloe. I have searched the internet for advice on this and the advice that is out there seems to be correct. Use a new blade. Shave in the direction of hair growth. Don't repeatedly shave the same area, try for one sweep. When you have shaved as much as you can like this, if there are stubborn areas remaining then shave against the growth. That should give a nice smooth finish.

Since doing it this way the results have been good and bumps, itching minimal. I think for me the key is the soak in the bath to soften it all and shaving in the right direction.

After shaving I pat dry (rather than rub) and use a product called Cool Ya which is sold to use after waxing but works well after shaving too. I am interested in the deodorant idea and will definitely give that a try.

Personally I like to be completely bald but if not then definitely closely trimmed. Naturally mine is a bit of a jungle and I hate it.

As far as guys go, I like them bald but its not such a big deal to me.

Someone earlier said that they had never been taught to trim. I wonder if anyone has. It was a subject never discussed with my mother. However my 13 year old daughter was moaning about hating her pubic hair so I bought her a trimmer and explained how to use it. She was absolutely stunned and asked if it was ok for her to do that. I told her "it's yours and you decide what you want to do with it". She now trims regularly.
Use a new blade.
Very important. I tried shaving with a week-old razor once, as I was in a hurry. It was quite painful, and left tons of bumps and nicks.

I air dry while I'm shaving my face and finishing my daily routine. No irritation whatsoever from that.

For me, I wax. It last at least 2 weeks, and I don't have to bother with it until the end of those 2 weeks. If you can suck it up and start waxing, I'd say go for that! Eventually it thins out and starts to not grow as fast. {I hear that eventually it won't come back for months} I'm not at that point yet though. The only thing you have to be on the lookout with this are those darn ingrown hairs.

Waxing is a LOT smoother than shaving is, and if you do get red bumps it's only the day of the waxing. My guy definitely preferred me with waxing over shaving {because of how fast the hair grows back with shaving it tends to leave those little sharp hairs within the next 24 hours!}

In one of my past sexual experiences with a girl {loved her to death but damn...} I swear she hadn't shaved in that region at all. I guess to some that's sexy, but for me that's not at all a turn on. I don't want to have to worry about getting hairs all in my throat and have to hack it back up. {that's all I seemed to do} So instead of enjoying pleasing her, I was hacking my throat sore.

The majority of the world prefers a smooth surface...

Agreed. Waxing is defintely the way to go. ;)

I prefer to go bare myself. Used to leave a little patch above the penis, but once when I was waxing it seemed to be more trouble than it was worth so I just waxed the entire area and took everything off. Kept it that way all summer. Still don't know if waxing is worth it. Gives me about two solid weeks without hair and when it does start to grow back it is not as prickly or thick. But then I need to wait a few weeks for it to be long enough to wax again.I still need to shave the scrotum because the area I tried waxing did not work and took skin off with the hair (ouch). Love the feel of being bare.

Bald is beautiful!

I prefer to keep myself completely bald...I think it feels better and looks better. Much more sexy looking at skin than hair, and I feel cleaner. My bf has started to trim, much better for me.;)

You don't shave your legs?!?! That's just abnormal to me lol. The first time you shave your pubic hair, it isn't going to be smooth the next day. Its something you have to get accustomed to. You might just have really sensitive skin.

I don't shave. I shaved once not long after I was introduced to shaving my legs, and my pubic hair grew in. It itched so horribly! I never did it again. I even hate shaving my legs, I almost never do it anymore. I think actual hair feels much better than stubble, even very small stubble. Not to mention that I have no spare energy to spend on constantly shaving, it seems such a nuisance to me. My boyfriend doesn't shave either, and neither of us mind having to fish a few hairs out of our mouths in medias res.

These new razors simply don't nick. Don't worry. Just do it.
Well I have a friend and she just shaves herself with a razor and shaving cream using a mirror, but she takes a bath first to soften her hair. And I have an another friend and she waxes. I'm not sure about the soap and water, I don't know anyone who does it like that.

As far as if we appreciate it, personally it's a real turn on for me and I'm sure it is for most men too.

I have a question for you now atomic, don't you or women in general like their man to be trimed or shaved and do you ladies appreciate it?
I definitley appriciate that my bf trims himself up. I don't find completely shaven men much of a turn on though. I don't mind it, but I like a little bit down there.

I waxed once, and I really liked the out come. The only thing was, once I got down so far it was really hard to finish and became painful. I have a pretty high tolerence for pain so I was upset when i had to stop. I was wondering how far down you actually wax, and if you just use a razor after that. Also, is it better to use cold or hot wax? And once those two weeks are up, and you need to wax again, how long do you usually have to wait before the hair can be taken out?
