too much water in vagina?

Hi there,
Question; is there something as too much water inside your vagina?

Reason why I came up with this; I was masturbating in the shower. I lay on my back on the floor legs up and let water running down on my pussy from the tab. I've just started experimenting with this and this time I let the water run close to my vagina while using a finger as well. At a certain moment it felt rather uncomfortable. As I got up the water was practically gushing out  (and no; I'm a squirter and this was no female ejaculate ;)) I hadn't noticed water had gotten in there, though not illogical since my finger must have opened it up. I got on my knees and put a finger in there to check whether all was out and found a little pool close to my cervix; actually the same place I usually find the semen after sex. I managed to push the water out.

I know water usually doesn't really get inside the vagina, since it naturally practically closes up in baths and such. And I never use douches, so I have no idea of the amount of fluid women put in there. This wasn't boiled water and that doesn't seem like the best idea (wasn't part of my idea anyways ;)), but the drinking-water-quality here is very high. It didn't feel good, so I won't do this specific thing again. It just made me wonder whether there's something as "too much".

Thank god, a worthwhile discussion. First in weeks. You certainly understand your genital anatomy. I believe it was Masters & Johnson who first identified the little pool you describe. Whilst lying on our backs, the vaginal wall forms a depression into which the cervix descends as we recover from sexual stimulation. It was posited that this was an evolutionary development to help cause pregnancy by pooling the semen in a position from which the cervix could "drink" drawing sperm into the uterus. They also posited that the female orgasm caused "sucking" by the uterus to draw semen in. Neither explanation is completely accepted. First, the little depression exists only in non-parous women (never had a baby) and not in all of them. Second, the uterus appears, during contraction, to expel rather suck. During menstruation, and with a speculum in place women have been observed to shoot menstrual juices half a meter. Third, women keep getting pregnant after the first child, so the pool must not be that important. Perhaps it is simply a depression caused by having a cervix pressing against the posterior wall of the vagina. Nonetheless, you have identified the little pool.

You also identify that the main purpose of the inner lips (labia menora) is to keep stuff out of us. During arousal, they blossom like a little flower and open for the penis to enter. We can swim in the ocean or dunk in a hot tub without getting filled the nasty stuff (creatures and chemicals) in the water. Hydro-masturbation (just made that up!), which I enjoy, can force them open especially when we get active with our fingers. We are then wide open to stuff entering, especially with some hydraulic head. When you stood up, gravity took over. I have sometimes drained more than I could possibly hold! Remember that the vagina becomes a balloon during arousal and may hold much more water than we ever imagine. I do try to limit the amount I allow in doing this but when I get carried away .......

No damage will be done if you allowing the water to flow. If you pressed a nozzle directly against your pudenda or attempted to mount the tap (yes, it has been done) damage would be possible. The fresh water douche will not really cleanse you as chemical douches do so the eco-balance will not be upset - done in moderation.

I am anti-douche (the only times I have ever douched were when I had too many dates in one or two days). Therefore, I would not recommend this daily but if it gets the job done with a little variety, go for it!

Thank you Brandye for your clear response.
Hydro-masturbation, I love your newly invented term for this! :)

Although I love the sensation of water, I just didn't seem to like it getting in there much... Though it could also be I was a bit overwhelmed by the strange and unexpected feeling. At least I know now it's harmless experimenting. Mount the tab?!? No, that hadn't come to my mind!
