Susan G Komen Organization and Planned Parenthood

I thought some here might be interested in these articles regarding the Susan G Komen Foundation's, one of the largest breast cancer advocacy groups in the country, recent decision to split from Planned Parenthood.

Information on the split

Americans United for Life are misnamed. They should be named Anit-Americans United for A Society That ONLY Reflects My Values.

These people also haven't studied up the history of their own religion, upon which their ideology is based, because if they had they would know that the last thing their religion is interested in is life and the preservation thereof.

Living in a puralist society is difficult for some people, I understand that, but the individual is paramount over the society and one does not sacrifice a person for the sake of the society - therefore you have to become comfortable with ALLOWING OTHER PEOPLE TO MAKE THEIR OWN CHOICES even if you think they are the wrong ones.

If you don't like abortion then don't have one. But don't tell me I can't because that is not your decision to make.

That is the error into which Komen fell. They failed to look at the hidden agenda behind those who promoted axing support of Planned Parenthood - a most useful organization if ever there was one. You might be interested to know that this same group AUL is also against the Girl Scouts because the Girl Scouts invited the lady who began Take Your Children to Work to speak at their convention.

So now buying Girl Scout cookies has become a 'liberal' political statement.

I think it is sickening that there are people out there who are against woman's right to choose to get an abortion if they want to and it would seem that it was just this type of people who tried to get Komen to cut funding to Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood does a lot of good things. It helps women who otherwise can't afford birth control to get birth control, it helps women get breast exams and pelvic exams, and I think they even give out free condoms.

Calling birth control pills abortion??? A fertilized eggcell a person???

I see an era dawning where every expelled fetus, morula and blastula will be examined for cause of "death". Where vagina's are marked with CSI-tapes to prevent entrance to the site of the supposed murder. Wait! Maybe every woman should become obligated to bring all her menstrual blood to a special deposit, where it shall be checked for possible rejected pregnancies. And while at it, let's implant a chip too that registers our health-status by the minute, so that women can be charged for culpable homicide. Off course; taking the male accomplice down as well, when his low quality seed has lead to some sort of defect in the undeveloped never-born.

Such ridiculous propositions really get me to the edge of reason!

To think we just had a fire of a discussion in the Netherlands, because a political party had the sickeningly stupid idea to legalize abortion till 20 weeks instead of today's 24 weeks. I guess I should consider myself lucky with such "minor" uproars. The best known example of pro-life in the Netherlands is a Christian health insurance-company that not many outside it's circles of equal minds have even heard of

I think they are trying to over-turn abortion etc. via a ruling from The Supreme Court.

But perhaps next VA will require women to wear burqas - well, why not? They're already looking up our skirts.

And isn't it about time that the religious stop foisting their religion onto others?

And considering the Catholic Church colluded with the Nazis, I think their so-called "reverence for life" is BS. The recent wars in the Balkans were more about Christians vs Muslims and Christians Type A va Christians Type B than they were about nationalities which only proves my point about their so-called 'reverence for life' more.

Even more amusing in a "noir" kind of way, these same anti-abortions groups are also now anti-contraceptives because in RARE cases the Pill may possibly, there's a slight chance' don't blink you'll miss it, that a fertilized egg will fail to implant. This would count as an abortion - so No Pill. The IUD is completely out since it works by preventing implantation directly.

They are also going the route of proclaiming every fertilized egg as a PERSON with equal rights. Which legally makes abortion murder regardless of the 'age' of the fertilized ovum. Taking away the rights of the voting mother to be however doesn't disturb them in the slightest.

So while every man is a man, every woman is just a uterus.

Due to the large amount of complaints, the organization retracted the pulling of pp funding that the original articles in the first post mentioned.

For those who aren't familiar with the topic - there has been much effort the last few years by anti-abortion groups to do everything they can to shut down Planned Parenthood because they also provide abortions. This is despite the fact that the vast majority of services they perform are the basic women's health ones such as cancer screenings and contraceptive services and education. I many regions of the country, Planned Parenthood is the *ONLY* source for these services for anyone not wealthy.

The lack of medical availability is quite sad, and sadder still is that people who claim to be pro-life would rather see entire(and in many cases the only) hospitals shut down and condemn others to death if the hospital dare even offer abortion referrals.

"every sperm is sacred, every sperm is good, every sperm is needed in your neighborhodd"

Conservatives think: every man is a man and every woman is a uterus.

On a serious note w/o any intention of derailing this thread, it would seem we have entered yet again into another decade of sexual rights, women's rights versus politics.

Yes, I had thought we had finished with this sort of dispute 40 years ago.
This is what comes from 'being nice', ladies!

That's sad...just because of that I will order 10 boxes of Thin Mints.

I am disgusted with this altogether.
