Sometimes after sex I feel pretty bloated, & experience pains in my stomach area (kinda like pains you might get after exercising/doing sit-ups)...I used to confuse this with a regular stomach ache, but now I think it may have more to do with my internal bits & bobs getting kinda irritated as a result of having a penis inside me (I'm relatively new to sex, & don't get to see my boyfriend overly often)...sex, other than sometimes for the first few seconds, is not painful & is enjoyable...am I right in thinking that these pains are probably just due to my body not being used to having sex? (I went to the doctors & asked for a gyn exam cos I've never had one, but they said I don't need one!)

Welcome to the NHS (yes, the one I work for). Any sexually active woman should have an internal especially when experiencing anything out of the ordinary. It is most likely that you have properly self-diagnosed but that should still be checked out. Tell your GP you want to see a consultant and you want to see one now. If you have the wherewithal, a private clinic is not all that expensive for an initial exam.
Thanks Brandye, I'll just have to be more assertive with my GP I guess, he doesn't seem to like referring people for anything! My friend, who smokes & has been on the pill for nearly ten years, was booked in for her first smear test, got to the clinic (or wherever it is you go for those kinda things) & they refused to do it, on the basis that she is still under 25 & doesn't need one yet - pretty shocking really. I might check out a private clinic if I have no joy with my GP because I would much rather know that everything has been checked out, than just sit & hope for the best!
Good for you. Take responsibility for your own care and do not hesitate to be demanding. Make my colleagues do as they should.
this may help you or may not but i know the feeling you are talking about. if my boyfriend gets in too deep sometimes i feel that. if you pick positions that limit how deep he gets in it helps a lot.
