Sorry to bother you, just have a quick question. Is it possible to catch STI's if both partners do not have them whilst having unprotected sex.
I am asking because my girlfriend wants to go on the pill. I know neither of us have STI, but is there a risk of catching it during intercourse with an un infected person?

If both are clear, are not getting "some on" the side, the quick answer is no. There are other illnesses passed through sexual contact such as Mono, EBV, CMV, etc. Also make certain both are clear of HSV I (oral herpes) and HPV (Human Pap. Virus). Go and get a full check up for STD's including HIV & Hep C together, then make a decision.
Ok, thanks very much. I think we'll stick to condoms but its always nice to know all the facts just in case.
