u can get an std from oral...it's passed on in any bodily fluid.
a cold sore is a strain of the herpes virus, similar to genital herpes, and can be contracted in the genital area, and genital herpes can be contracted around the mouth. there are also other STDs that can be contracted through oral contact. the one i'm pretty sure of is gonorrhea, and there are probably others
