oookay. i've been thinking/considering getting a toy (my first). but, i don't know where to start. 
i'm very much a virgin, and haven't been touched other than by myself, so that definitely plays a part in what i get, but my boyfriend is on the larger side, and eventually, i'd like to pleasure him (ie - orally/deep throating). anyway, so i'd like something i can practice on also...if that's possible without hurting myself.
soo...any suggestions?
And once you perfect the blowpop, you can then drive men crazy. without even realizing it. lol.

i hadn't thought of the popsicle/blowpop idea before; blowpops seem much easier, and aren't near as cold. lol

As for a toy for a beginner the duel vibrating eggs are great. You can put on inside and us the other one on your clitoris. Or anywhere on your body you want. It was my first toy and I loved it and still use them to this day.
A simple vibrator with good power (C-battery operated ones are great) Maybe a water proof one if you like doing it in the tub or shower.
For the oral part, I suggest something as simple as a popsicle or a blowpop. They're tasty and easy to work with.
As for "down there", I suggest starting with something slim and plastic. It will at least get you used to something other than a tampon or a finger being insterted down there. And then just kinda work your way up.
Jelly toys are relatively good for beginners as well and also fairly inexpensive.
All that being said, I'm not sure much of anything can actually prepare you for him himself.
After having pain my first time, which was expected, I started looking into toys and acquired some in hopes to help me out down there. While they have helped some, I still experience pain for reasons I can't always explain.
My point, they can help. They can get you used to it. But nothing is quite going to be like him being inside of you.
