a short question about age gap

do you think sexual contact between a 15 and a 28 yr old is wrong?
(note: im not doing that) just curios for your opinion
thanks :)

It's beyond morally, ethically, and legally wrong...it's statutory rape. Read some of the threads here on age gaps...It boarders on pedophilia.

Poor Turbo! lol here is another
Yea is this case its 21 and 15. But 28!!! and 15... geesh they could almost be there mom/dad LOL ewwwww
Im 28 and still somewhat a kid at heart... but you can't say that the 2 involved would have anything in common.... I can't even imagine.
Seeing teenage kids now a day makes me feel old b/c I realize how much of an age gap there really is!!!

reason im asking is my girlfriend was with a guy aged 28, they never had sex but did basically everything else , and personally it sickened me as i could'nt see how that was not taking advantage of her, she ofcourse does'nt see anything wrong, none of my business really as its before me..but meh thats what i think

Hey, I dated a girl in high school who lost her virginity the previous year to a 38 year old, she was 15 at the time. I'm 25, and almost anyone under the age of 22 seems like a complete ass to me. I'm not saying that all younger people are immature (my girlfriend is 20). But I just can't imagine being mentally attracted to anyone under the age of 18. It's a maturity thing for me, teens just don't have it. And yes, it totally disgust me to think about ANY adult with a minor...it's wrong on so many different levels.

Yes (it's wrong).

Just in case nobody else has said that yet.

indeed

It's morally wrong and a case for prosecution.
Worse IMHO is the different ages for consensual sex in the USA. It's 14 in Hawai! What's the matter with people?!

Every site I checked the age was 16 in Hawaii. I was not questioning you, I just thought that seems awfully young!

Look at some of the worldwide ones, no that is scary! Plus I love to keep posting these links, when this subject comes up, to increase awareness!

In the few cases that I know of from old friends with that kind of age gap, the older person was only after one thing, and it was not a friendship or love. Just sex and nothing more. And in the cases that I know of, it was more an act of rebellion on the younger person's part, perhaps to their parents or an ex. However, there is an older family friend, either in her 40's or 50's who's husband is 15 years older than she is and they've been happily married for years and years. Ever since I can remember.

:)

No problem Sera. Correct me anytime. :) They must have updated it because I had translated a documentary about it for my network (I'm a translator) and there was a board with 14 on it. Must have stick in my head.

Yes, I know the situation :-/ Hope people start paying attention...

I don't like it at all. It doesn't feel right and looks like pedophilia.

When I was 15 I met a much older guy and we dated, and slept together for about 5 years. I certainly didn't come away from it any worse off, and probably better. He was and still is, my best friend anywhere. (12 year age difference)

Of course you can throw back at me that now that I am 24 I am contemplating the same thing in reverse, but I don't think it means it scarred me or messed me up any.

I have to tread into ground littered with mines here, but it really has to be taken on a case by case. In *some* rare cases it is not predatory, pedophilia, or anything sick.... just damned horrible luck in ages of two very very compatible people.

Just *my* experiences with relationships and huge age gaps.

Snap:

There are times when the effects are unknown for many years. Regardless of your personal experience, it's just wrong and I see no justifications for doing such a thing. Perhaps you were one of the very few who were lucky to scathe without scars. There are also many who do not realize they are being taken advantage of, they feel it's normal, and the person cared for them. When you study the psychology behind this behavior, it enlightens many to what really occurs.

You are contemplating sleeping w/ a 12 yr old??

Ahhh, now I remember. You are the 23 y/o woman looking to engage in sex with the 16 y/o. Do you know patterns of "abuse" are learned? Meaning, if one is abused later on the same behavior is repeated and the person who was abused now becomes the abuser. Many times they feel it happened to me, there must be nothing wrong with it, no one did a thing to stop it; therefore, it must be okay.

16 & 23? Something is very wrong. As I recall, he was under the age of consent for his state, you know this and still disregard the laws?

It doesn't look like pedophilia --- it is!

Heh, I was trying to be a little more politically correct. But then again, what is politically correct about this subject at all. If you are considering this, you are a pedophile, a sexual predator. Seek professional help.

Yes, it's wrong. People are often so selfish not to step back from an iffy situation and really look at it. Of course that is wrong becuase even a 15 year old with lots of "life" experience cannot be that mature. All that is is selfishess and lack of self control.

yep, I was right

Hey Sera, after you corrected me, I did some research and I was right about Hawaii, just not the year. Read this, it's the only one I could find:

http://www.actwin.com/eatonohio/gay/hawaiis.html

the age of consent in Hawaii some 5 or 6 years ago WAS 14. Good thing you upped that...

Wow! I am glad they changed it; furthermore, I find it amazing the purpose of the bill was to intentionally discrimination against same-sex couples who could not legally marry!

Thanks so much for the info!
