and how do i make it so i can shave everyday down there without it being so painful please someone give me advice

First, see your English teacher and ask about the use of punctuation and capitalization. While there, you could ask her how she shaves but that would probably not be a good idea.

Most "shavers" who get those bumps are going to get them forever and have to ask themselves whether it is worth it.

Perhaps some of the women here who shave their pubic hair will have some good hints.

I don't know. Apparently shaving with the grain the first few times then against once your skin is used to it is meant to produce less bumps.

I am a compulsive ingrown-hair picker and my bikini line is a right mess :(

I found if you use a mans razor like the Gillette triple blade series it works well. Use a good shaving gel. And if you are using his razor change then change the blade before and after...otherwise he will curse you to hell the next time he uses it on his face.

Lol but all women use their dad's or bf's razor :P It's our job!

How often do u change the blade on your razor between shaves?

If I shaved every day then usually every 3 days. I switched to waxing instead but I know you said you were allergic.

The men's razors are expensive compared to women's but, if they can get a nice smooth shave, use it on their face, and it goes easily through their re-growth. It's good for the lower area & for legs. I never switched back to women's razors.

I've found that if I trim for a few days before I shave the first time I get a nice smooth shave that I can keep up. But I don't shave it all off, just the unsightly bits. And honestly the last time I shaved was on his birthday, so it tends to grow out.

you could always epilate if you're really desperate lol

I sometimes epilate but I get terrible ingrown hairs from that too.

Have you considered instead of shaving completely to the skin just thinning out the hair that you have. Does that make sense :) You can get a personaly trimmer and put a blade on it that will trim your pubic hair almost all the way down to the skin but not completely. That way you don't have to worry about those little bumps. (the trimmers are similar to the ones that hairdressers use on mens hair to cut it).

HTH

Yea I use one of those micro trimmers... "as seen on tv" lol
They do trim very short... it's "fuzzy" feeling instead of prickly...and it doesn't get ingrown when coming back in.
I use one of those in the area around my vagina...just because I've shaved there...and it's difficult to do (afraid I was going to slice something off lol)...and no fun when it grows back.

Then I use an actual razor on my mound...and keep a little hair patch there.

I used to get terrible razor burn but I have not had razor burn in a while. Here is my method:

I have the gilette Mach3 razor, and everytime I shave I use a new razor head. I got neutrogena body oil (kind of like baby oil) and I put that on as a shaving cream and I also put it on afterwards. I leave a patch in the middle because I feel a little juvenile when I shave the whole thing, but whatever works! But I swear by that body oil, It keeps me smooth and it also makes me feel clean all day. Cocoa butter has worked very well for me as well when I put it on afterwards.

y do u get fettish with razors, and not creams?

[COLOR="DarkOrchid">can i tell you that i read somewhere if you rub vaseline all over your pubic hair the day before you are to shave it (everyday if you shave that often), the vaseline will make the hair soft and much easier to shave. so i tried it and it was like a miracle. it was like shaving a leg. nice and smooth, no bumps ever. i didn't even need shaving cream or soap to lather or anything. it was a beautiful thing. i informed my friend and she said it's the best advise she's ever gotten. thought i'd share with you all. i used to have a lot of trouble. no more! good luck! But EVERYTHING sticks to Vaseline, I can only imagine every piece of cloth/fabric attaching.

Have you not gotten a urinary tract infection?

Eww yeah vaseline is thick and greasy!! wouldn't it stain your clothes??
Plus when I shave I get more razor bumps on the mound part..not the part between my legs.

I agree with using a mens razor rather then a womens. I usually use a new razor everytime I shave down there, but since my skin is prown to ingrown hairs as well I only shave once a month. If I do it more often it gets really irritated. There are also products you can buy in your local drug store that are supposed to reduce the bumps. I'm not sure how good they work, but it's worth looking into.

coming from a males perspective, I have shaved for over 3 1/2 years now when my girlfried at the time encouraged me to try it (she shaves completetly as well). I haven't gone back. I honestly love the smoothness but like all of you, I have had problems with bumps. I shave about once a week. I have it timed out to shave on a Friday or Saturday, perfect days to do it if there might be fun over the weekend. I find in my once-a-week periods, I rarely get ingrown hairs and not much iritation. I use the new Gillete Fusion blade with 5 blades and it really does create less friction! I also use the Edge Ultra Sensative shaving cream and it does wonders. Sure, I would like to shave more often but yes, I get irritation. I've only tried shaving everyday when I first started when my hair was still VERY coarse so I'm thinkin of trying it again to see what happens. Though the girls who use men's razors but change them every shave....are you kidding me??? Using the new Gillete Fusion it's $12 for 4 razors!! I couldn't imagine shaving everyday cause thats just under 8 packs a month and thats $96 a month to be spening on razors!! Let alone buying shaving cream! They don't need to be changed that much! Rule of thumb...the razor can be changed when the aloe strip on the top of the razor is pretty much gone. That would get you AT LEAST a good week of shaving from one razor, equaling only one pack of razors a month if you shave everyday. I'm savin u money ladies by a man's knowledge of razors...and trust me, it works because chin hair it just as coarse as pubic hair, and there's no way in hell I'd throw out a brand new razor after only using it once on my face! Anyway, it all depends on personal preference and how your body works to determine how often to shave and how to prevent ingrowns and bumps. I've debated for a while to get a wax myself, just to try it...I shave my chest as well so it would be less of a hassel at least...

Yeah, I feel your pain.
I too am sensitive and I can't shave regularly, use removal creams or wax.

I do use a trimmer (it won't cut you) and shave only for special occasions.
I use a mens razor but I also use a deep treatment conditioner instead of shaving cream or gel. I find it dosen't scrape the skin as much.

If the guy's not happy, bite the bullet, get a wax and ask him if he thinks your allergic reaction is sexy. (BTW - he shouldn't)
That should put him in his place.

- Use disposable blades/shavers. Use it once - and throw it away. High hygiene is essensial.

- Shave as the last thing you do in the shower/after taking a bath. Then the hair is softer and it will lessen the redness.

- Never use regular soap in that area, if any. Get a special product at the pharmacy or elsewhere.

- Lotion! Best is lotion meant for that area, but any can do as long as it DOESN'T contain any perfume and is really mild. I.e. baby lotion.
(Also lotion between shavings, even when there's a little hair. You skin needs it.)

- Start shaving in the same direction as your hair grow, thus taking the worst. Then you can shave against the grow direction (this lessens bumps, funnily enough)

- Only use foam if really needed. Most foams contain perfume and this is really, REALLY bad for that area (besides, if you shave in the shower it's just at good).

- If the hair has grown so long that you can hold it between two findertips, then cut it first with scissors.

I have been epilating for almost 11 years now and I would never go back to shaving or waxing. But, when I did shave all the time there were basically these rules that really worked for me! I rarely had trouble with ingrowns or razor burn.

1.Use a NEW razor head with at least three blades when you are going to shave.

2.Use a shave gel and apply gel to each stroke. This means if you are shaving over one area more than once, re-apply. Also, shave first in the growth direction and after you get it down to where it looks completely smooth, go once in the other direction.

3.Like everyone else said, make it the last thing you do before you finish your shower/bath.

4.Get something that helps reduce bumps and sensitivity. I couldn't live without my TendSkin. I usually bought it off Ebay, it's much cheaper that way. Use after you dry off.

5.Never shave the day after! This will cause extreme irritation. Make sure that you exfoliate in between shaves. I still have to do this and I really like Swiss Ives Apricot Scrub. It is a lifesaver!

Womans razors suck... use gilettes razors they are the best... They last longer than other blades in my experience too

Well, as for me - i do shave down there regularly and as one person mentioned you do get used to the red bumps - but there are ways to help ease the pain of them.
Right after shaving - use a lotion, preferably unscented or one with oatmeal in it (My favorite) this helps it keep smooth for a bit.
Another point to keep the bumps from coming is to use a gentle scrub, especially around the bikini line. I like to use Neutrogena's body scrub and water it down a bit so it's not so rough. This helps slough away dead skin so when your hair grows back, it's not so painful.
And as for keeping it smooth just from shaving all the time - i hate to say it but it doesn't work unless you add a bit of waxing in there - which I did read u are allergic to. But what I do is I don't shave everyday - that's too painful.. I wait at least 3-5 days, until the hair is just long enough to shave and then it's smooth for another day. My bf doesn't care - cause he knows that it is painful (I got him to go bare once XD).
Hopefully this helps!

Pricey but THE BEST! Goodbye shaving bumps. Skeeter/spider bites too! Trust me on this - the best!

LOL Skeeter bites :)
Are you from Alabama too?

Nair???

I'm going to display my ignorance here, but has anyone tried the product known as "Nair?" There is a commercial for a new type, supposedly for more sensitive skin?

i used to use nair for my legs like...when it first came out lol
i havent used a depilitory cream in years because they smell HORRIBLE and on more than one occasion they have caused some pretty bad irritation.

I've just spent £35 on ingrown hair stuff ... will let you all know how it works

Red bumps are not sexy. Neither are ingrown hairs. I don't believe I could ever get used to seeing that on a woman.

So would you prefer her to be hairy?
So would you prefer her to be hairy?
I DEFINITELY prefer that her pubic region be hairy.

That used to happen to me, but i was trying to shave "against the grain" or against the direction of the hairline to get as smooth as you are saying. But I noticed when I shaved along with the direction of the hair i didnt have any problems. I also skip days, however, to keep from getting too irritated.

But like Brandye said, maybe it isnt worth it. I shave not really for appearance and smoothness, but just so the hair isnt "in the way." I feel like sex is better without pubic hair, but due to my sensitive skin, I usually dont shave more than twice a week and find that doing so, I dont have any bumps or irritation. Just make sure you use a mirror!

nair?!

Damn! I tried putting that on my legs once and I broke out in a rash! Don't anybody be trying to put that on their pussy! We dont want any bad experiences and strange doctor trips in here.

I received some "ingrown-go" and "tend-skin" today - so far so good....

It's amazing!!!! All my bumps and ingrown hairs are gone! Only thing is it says you can use it right after shaving, well I assumed this would include epilating, but I have never been in so much pain IN MY LIFE! I exaggerate not! It stang for at least 5 minutes - not the quick sting I was expecting. Apart from that, miracle stuff! And a little bit of peeling but I think that's because I've been using it at least 2x a day

so ladies, how do you shave your public area? you shave all the hair off or just along the bikini lines and leave some of them? How do you guys like that area to be shaved? you guys want to see it with no hair or a little hairy? which one turns you on more?

Shave, wax, or trim the bikini line. Keeping the long hairs cut in a short trim regardless of the style is all which is good for now & decide when you become accustomed....It's Pubic area; otherwise, you would be on public display!

I use this but ONLY AS FAR AS THE BIKINI LINE because it says to avoid the perenium (sp sorry) and similar skin. I've never been a 'bare as the day you were born' girl anyway, so beyond the bikini line I just trim very carefully with cuticle scissors. Never had any complaints.

Hehe new york, I have tried nair for my body, and also for my pubic area lol. Just made the mistake of using it on my sac.......

Everywhere else was great, but I had trouble running and had to keep everything cool and dry cuz it burned....alot lol!

Just trim enough to keep it inside the bikini bottom. Other than that keep it as hairy as possible. THAT is what turns me on.

If I may bump an almost dead topic? Those of you who shave, can you give some tips on getting a clean shave where it gets a little more... complicated? Around all the folds and such, and back towards the anus?

And for those who use creams, can you detail your experience? I'm going to get involved with a guy who prefers just a landing strip (as he calls it), and having no preference I'd like to oblige him, but haven't ever gone bare before. Any tips other than whats already been posted here?

Really, as I've said in this thread, I think the most important thing is to exfoliate afterward - and be prepared for lots of itching. If you are really ready for it, I would strongly advise a waxing as you don't generally get as many ingrowns and there is no itching or much irritation after. Also, it grows in much slower and they will clean up all of the hair, including around the anus.
