Shaving 101

From a guy's point of view, I love it shaved completely, or just on the sides with the top trimmed neat. At the same time, I keep mine trimmed very short.... Mostly because of the appearance and lack of "hair balls" during oral...

I'm wondering what other guys think about their female partners and especially vice versa.

well every time i shave my pubic hair i always get a unitractive rash. Now i've tried shaving with the growth of the hair and against the growth but nothing wroks. How do i not get a rash when shaving?

im assuming your in the u.s so im not sure about products there but i know there is a product here in australia called "ingrow go". id say thered be something similar over there which should work. its for shaving rash as well as ingrown hairs. but thats just if its a shaving rash and not any form of medical condition.

Razor burn? Sensitive Skin? My handy dandy trick is baby oil after I shave the area. You can purchase Bikini Zone tho here in the states. It works well. Or a hydrocortozone cream, since that all that bikini zone is anyway. External of course only.

Once a month or so I get waxed. It's a bit painful, but the rewards are welllll worth it. My fiance absolutely loves it.

i would realy like that my gf shave her pussy, but she doesn't want to shave . so that is like a fantasy to me.

I trim my pubic hair, but not too often. It doesn't grow any faster. I think that's a myth. But it is different with different types of hair on one's body. I gotta shave my face every other day...

My wife just shaved her self totally clean for the first time and it is a huge turn on. I absoloutly love it.

I've shaved before and thought it felt nice but it's hard to keep up. I don't care if my partners shave or keep natural though. Right now I am keeping it natural, my boyfriend is really into my pubic hair, I asked him if he wanted me to trim and he said he liked it the way it is.

Basically do what Demonbuttercup said.

If you're going to want her to do it, its only fair you should to.

And the way to get her to do it, is by doing yourself first, and then giving her a little surprise. Then she'll maybe get into it too.

Plus you want to use scissors at first for the trimming, and trim down to about roughly 5mm. It'll get abit itchy for aweek but you cna use talcum powder for it.

After a fortnight, you can trim or shave without any itches or without walking lopsided everywhere.

There is some useful info on shaving here:

Although it is mentioned there, I would like to stress the importance of going "with the grain".  If you don't shave in the direction of the hair growth in certain areas, particularly the pubic mound, you will get ingrown hairs which look awful and feel worse.  However, at least in my experience, it is safe to shave "against the grain" on the outer labia without fear of redness or itching.  You will probably want to do so in that area, since you can get a cleaner shave that way.

When my wife and I shave, we use a number of different techniques. I like to have her take a very warm/hot bath with a generous qualty bath oil. When she stands up and spreads her legs for me to shave her, I apply the shaving cream and follow the tips given in the previous entry.
I do find it benificial to take my time! After I am done shaving her and finish her bath, I then towel her off completely and then apply a hair minimizing cream from Jergens or Avon.
She takes care of my "area" pretty much the same way, and we have found that the hot bath with bath oil makes the close shave much less irritating. After having used the hair minimizer creams for some time now, the job is getting much easier, expecially shaving "back there".

Shaved or trimmed is the only way to go. I like a girl to be shaved and trimmed, I like the little patch of hair "It's sexy." But there's nothing wrong with being shaved either. Personally I keep my hair trimmed on top and the rest I pull out because shaving just seems to make it to ruff down there, if you know what I mean. Just being fully shaved makes me feel weird.

I'm just trimmed at the mo. I'm just getting used to it so i'll shave later....

mmmmmmm id love it too....LOL

my g/f only shaves and sometimes she gets this lil rash and it aint verry sexy...lol

I use to trim all the time..Now i shave its better i think..My b/f will only eat me out if its trim or shave so i shave. He use to shave his when he plays football for school..But now he trims it but i has been shaveing it for awhile..i think its a little kinky

i'm totally shaved and love it, and I like my girlfriend to be shaved too, so does she

Is it true that if you shave your pubic hair, then it will grow faster than it did before you shaved it?
Like if you never shaved your pubic hair before, and you shave it, then will it grow faster than before you shaved it?
And if it does...then do you have to like shave it all the way down to your skin for it to grow faster or could you just like trim it? Or both? Or whatever!

I noticed that the article on the website suggests using a razor and shaving cream.  I was wondering if there is any problem with using an electric razor.

My girlfriend was thinking of letting me shave her with my electric razor that I use on my face to give her pubic area a trim.

I've search the forums but I couldn't find any other topics on using an electric razor.

I was hoping for some advice, warnings or suggestions.

Thanks.

Ingrown hairs usually show up within a few days. If she isn't itching now, she's probably okay. However, it may depend on just where that "small area" is. I find that I get ingrown hairs very easily in some places, particularly my pubic mound but only rarely on the labia. Therefore, one or two ingrown hairs may be a whole lot or very few depending on where they are.

There are no problems I know of. If I haven't shaved for a while, I usually trim my pubic hair with electric shears before using a regular razor, and I've never been electricuted.

I use electric clippers (not razor) to do initial cleanup, but not for the close shave. I prefer razor and soap for the close shave. I think electric razors have a tendency to "pull" hair which can result in ingrown hairs. Give it a shot and let us know your results Kalishnakov. But, like Guido said, stay away from water with them.

Just don't try it in the tub!

I used the electric trimmer on her and then the electric razor on a small area. We just did a little bit to see how she likes it.

Hopefully everything will go well and no ingrown hairs from the electric razor, and I'll be able to shave the rest a bit closer. I really like the way it looks on her.

How long until she would notice if there were any problems? It was her first time shaving that area.

You are using shaving cream or something along those lines, right? Also, be sure to use a very sharp razor. Logically, one would think that a dull razor would cause less cuts, but it is actually the other way around.

Is it there any alternative to shaving your pubes without using a wet shaver? I've nicked myself a few times doing it you see. Was your wondering.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve, I've found that a wet razor is the cleanest and safest method. You just have to have the right razor and take your time. I also use an electric microsheen for quick cleanups, but you'll have a tendancy to get more ingrown hairs.

Lazered??? You mean like laser hair removal??? Its gonna be alot of them isn't it?

And don't you find pubes have that little white bit at the root end, but when you pull outyour head hair...it isn't there... anyone got an answer?

I think i'll spike my pubes

If you haven't checked them out already, there are polls on this subject in the polling station under female and male preferences.

I generally alternate between keeping my pubic hair shaved for a few months and letting it grow out for a few months.  On myself and other woman I like it bushy or shaved, but not in between (e.g. one of those goofy little tufts so many porn stars have).  I haven't seen enough shaved men to form an opion on how male pubic hair should kept.

just wondering what everyones opinions are on how to keep things down in the "danger zone". personaly, i keep hair on the shaft and sack to a bare minumum and trim the rest with pair of electric hair trimers. thinking about getting the bits them slefs lazered clean one of these days. but that is besides the point, all opinions are welcome, so post away.

My wife and I keep each other, [yes we take care of each other's naughty bits] completely hair free to have very enjoyable oral sex with smoothness for the tongue and no hair in the teeth. Plus we love the look.

In regards to elf's post about the white thing on the end of the hair when you pull it out it's always there if you pull the hair out but if the hair falls out it will not be there.

I personnally trim most of it a little so it's not too bushy and shave some of the stuff on the edges of the bush because it just looks weird cause theres only a fem around the edges.

I prefer girls who have shaved pubic hair if it's shaved well I hate pube stubble especially if you're eating a girl out but I like it trimmed too I geuss it would be okay wild as long as it wasnt an afro bush or anything extremely bushy.

lol yea its a pain in the ass. if you are not willing to then how can you expect her too?!?
ive shaven w/ a razor down there b4 but maybe start her out slowly... just by maybe trimming it some... then maybe move on to shaving w/ an electric razor or something. finally moving to the final step of being completely bare down there. help her out w/ it. that should make it more fun for the both of you

shave yourself, and if you like how it feels talk to her about it.

I want to ask her to shave but i dun want to hurt her feelings....
any ideas on how i can get her to do it WITHOUT hurting her feelings?

I trim mine so I like for my b/f to trim his as well.

no matter what i do i cant seem to get a close enough shave and it looks all irritated. Ive followed the steps very carefully.

It is possible to get a close shave, and it is possible to avoid irritation, but it is very difficult to do both at once. Shaving with the hair growth is less irritating, but shaving against the hair growth gets a cleaner shave. That is why I recomend noticing which areas tend to get irritated and shaving with the hair in those places, but against the hair in less irritable areas. Also, if this was your first time shaving, it may be more irritated than it will be after future shavings. I think skin sort of gets used to it after being shaved a few times. Sorry it didn't work out well this time.

i am totaly absolutely shaved!

Tjdude (and metal mulisha), I don't know if you are still with the same girl, but if you are you should let her know that the rash-thingy is not unavoidable. It's mostly a matter of shaving with the hair, rather than against it. There is some more advice on shaving here:

I've just thought of a way to shave round the scrotum.

I used to use the hair removal cream thing for my legs (swimming thing which never worked in the end). And its simple. Apply the cream, wait 5-10mins, use the plastic spreader to remove cream. Simple.

Its pretty safe, doesn't hurt that much, the creams not greasy, so it could be quite a safe option.

It used to be called Immac, but i think they changed it a month ago.

If a woman is shaved it makes her easier to go down on because the hair doesn't get in the way so would improve oral sex for her, and make it easier for him. Bonus

A guy with no pubes often gives that feeling of youth... it gives a feeling of dirtiness that is difficult to enjoy. Shaved scrotums are great, Keep the top trimmed short, like 1/2" and you are rocking it cool macs!

I think all in all its a great thing to be shaved - be it male or female.  Just seems like it is so much easier for oral fun.  The only thing I cant stand personally is trying to keep up with it!  I hate shaving legs etc to begin with and stubbles are a major turn off.  Anyone got any secrets for shave upkeep?~~~~~~~~  cool macs- "hair balls" !!! LOLOL!!!  (I agree =)

I am a 15yo and have been seriously thinking about shaving my pubic hair, but not totally. Am I too young to be doing this? My friends never talk about it, and I would hate to get some weird reaction if I did. It would only be for myself, since I don't have a boyfriend and don't plan on having one anytime soon. I am just at that age where I guess some people would say I am looking at myself in the mirror too much. But I enjoy to, and not afraid to admit. There is just one problem and it is the eye-sore in between my legs. Does anyone have any feedback or maybe some recommendations on shapes and sizes? Thanks guys.

There is no problem shaving just because you are 15. I started shaving when I was 14 because of dance (sounds strange, but I had to). If you don't like your pubic hair there is no reason to keep it.

As for shapes, I've always just sahved it all off or left a bar down the center. Shapes are too complicated for me. My boyfriend's best friend had a girlfriend who would save peace signs and hearts and stuff, but if you ask me, that is too time consuming.

I feel the same as yippi, I trim mine and shave it to a bar like, its easy to do and its convenient, when you were a bikini, nothing shows. your safe.

You might be surprised at how many of your friends shave also! It is not weird.

I usually leave a short trimmed bar, but have also done the lot. I prefer the bar for looks.

This topic has been bothering me for a while, but I couldn't quite think of how to articulate my objections. I'm finally going to give it a shot.

First off, I myself shave my pubic hair. I find this look very sexy both on both myself and other women. I think of it as getting a little more naked. I have never liked the partially shaved look, but that is a matter of personal opinion.

On the other hand, the "natural" look can also be quite appealing. In the same way that lingere can be sexier than total nudity, pubic hair leaves an element of mystery.

There is nothing wrong with shaving your pubic region, but there is also nothing wrong with leaving it the way it is. It is okay to simply prefer the shaved look, but you should not think of your pubic hair as an "eye sore." It's natural, it's beautiful, and it's part of being a woman.

Anyhow, shaving is a pain in the butt. Sometimes literally.

I shave my bikini line, but everytime I do it, it leaves little red horrible dots there, and as I'm going on hoilday in a months time, I don't want the dots to be there when I wear a bikini! Yuck! Hehe! I was wondering if it's my shaving techinque, and if it is what am I doing wrong!? Also, I was wondering if it would be better to buy hair removal cream instead!

I want to shave/remove more hair cause, I find it uncomfortable at times, and was also wondering what bits I should shave/remove!

That probably did'nt make sense, lol, but I hope u guys/gals can understand! Hehe

Please reply ASAP

I like it when my husband shaves it completle. I like to tease him down there a little a little hair is more helpful. I hate going down there and getting pieces of hair in my mouth, and having to stop for a sec when he's getting really turned on.

We both like it when I shave mine. I like it completely shaved, he likes shapes. Some are harder to make then others but I try my best to suprise him at times.
