Unhappy Odd Discharge

Hi,

I remember reading somewhere ages ago that changes in discharge can mean that there may be problems "down there". Mine has been different for a few months now. It started when i started seeing my bf 4 months ago. At first it was really oniony and i looked this up and there was something about BV, but then it changed and became more creamy and stronger smelling, so i kept thinking itll probably go away. I dont have any other symptoms. I've had a yeast infection before and UTI and it's not like that at all.

Both of us have been checked for STIs in the last 3 months and we're both clean. I went to the nurse 4 weeks ago and only just got test results from a swab to say its all normal and i dont need another appointment.

I just dont get it!! its so frustrating... i can't even let my bf touch me or go down on me because im so conscious about it. I wash twice a day at least with femfresh, a pH balanced wash without soap... I wash everytime after sex and even go to the loo straight after (habit now) to reduce chance of infection.

Does anyone know what it might be or what i can do? It feels like its getting worse, now rather than smelling kind of strong it smells bad and is a lot more watery.

The foul smell almost always indicates a bacterial infection. Not necessarily an STD but some bacterial infection. This also checks with the "creamy." The vagina is a very delicate ecosystem unto itself. When the various bacteria and yeasts and fungi get out of balance, the good ones are no longer keeping the bad ones in check.

If the nurse only checked for STD, other bacterial infection may have been missed. This will NOT go away on its own. You need to have a complete pelvic exam. Do not douche, or even wash, before the appointment. As gross as it sounds, you want the doctor to examine you at your worst.

There is also a possibility with bacterial infections that you and your b/f are passing it back and forth. Use condoms until it gets cleared up.
