Contraception
I am not able to go on birth control pills because of medical stuff. My boyfriend and I just use condoms, and he pulls out. But recently, the condom broke and it was unclear of when it broke. I ended up being able to take the morning after pill...but obviously this cannot be a regular thing. Anyone have suggestions of 2nd measures of safety?

We recommend to all women relying on the condom that they use vaginal spermicide - jelly, film, foam, suppository, tablet. About 100-150 mg of spermicide is required in the vagina to be effective. When the condom is backed up with enough spermicide, the effectiveness approaches that of the pill. Advantage here is no prescription is needed and you can do it all yourself.
nutty's idea of the iud is good. These do require medical intervention and some doctors will not insert an iud prior to having children. Talk to your doctor; medical avoidance of the hormones may be enough to justify insertion of the iud - the kind not treated with hormones.

There are lots of contraceptive methods:
Pill, pill, and yet another formulation IUD Diaphragm Cap Sponge Think three not two forms of protection. When you decide which alternative is correct for you, he must use a condom, and the two of you should use a back up third line of protection--the spermicide. |
