Pain in certain positions.

My apologies for making an entire thread about this as I'm sure it's been asked in some form, but it was a tricky one to search for.
To summarise, I'm 19, we've been together for 18 months now and have been sexually active for about as long. One thing I can't seem to do anything about is pain in the sort of positions where my legs are both raised and apart. It just feels.. stretched and sore. If I get my hips at the right angle (as in, not such a steep one) all is a-okay, otherwise... no.
My question is quite simple, is this "one of those things" or is there something more I can do? This is experienced even when I'm at the point that I'm aroused enough that nothing else is uncomfortable at all.
Thank you.

Watching all the dance related TV programs, I am amazed when some guy or gal does some move that ends with falling into the splits, seemingly without effort or hesitation. Now, how does a person learn to do the splits? Practice and exercise from what I've been told. Not knowing anything more about this, it seems to me that what you may want to do is to "loosen up" by doing some exercises that stretch the affected muscles.

Also, when your legs are both raised and apart, are your legs being supported by your boyfriend? If not, ask him to support your feet or calves; alternately, rest your legs against his body.

I hope this is of help. Got questions?

It doesn't feel like a muscle issue, to be honest. It's more of a "sore" feeling, as though the skin around the entrance doesn't agree that it's a good idea.

Thank you, however, for your input.

Oh got it. I first interpreted it as Doc did. But it's not your leg muscles that are the issue, it's the opening itself that is reacting this way.

Some positions shorten as well as make the vagina narrower. Depending on your own internal anatomy and positioning of your internal organs, you may want to experiment more with pillows and as well as how you allign and position your pelvis. I tend to get sore at the vaginal opening if my husband repeatedly pulls all the way out then reinserts himself over and over again. Be sure to inlist the help of your partner, he needs to know that you are uncomfortable or hurting. Unless you communicate your feelings, he'll never know and he can't be a part of the solution.
