Vaginal Lubrication

Just wondering if anyone else can relate to this... Is it normal for secretions I have during sex to be very stringy? It doesn't seem to matter where I am in my cycle. It can just be kind of awkward. Any thoughts?

Stringy would indicate that the vaginal secretions are rather thick. This does happen and is often a sign of something as simple as not staying hydrated. If there is sufficient lubrication for normal sex, it could indicate secretions from peri-vaginal glands known as Glands of Bartholin. They secrete a thicker substance just on either side of the vaginal entroitus. For centuries they were thought to be the source of lubrication but the secretions are too thick and too little for that. We now think that they are an evolutionary holdover sevreting pherenomes. Many women do not even know they have them unless a cyst forms.

You could have quite active glands.

I also am getting tired of the akwardness of my thick discharge during sex. The thrusting motion makes a lot come out and it gets all over the base of my boyfriends penis and its kind of gross. I has no smell and there is no discomfort so I know it is not infection related. I am usually wet enough to have comfortable sex with out artificial lube but the thick discharge is something that has not always been there. Is there any way that is has to do with what kind of birth control I am on? When I was younger and not on the pill my discharge wasn't coming out so much during sex. If that is the case than I guess I just have to get used to it. If anyone has any suggestions for toning it down I am open them. thanks!
