Did you get diagnosed with thrush? Or are you diagnosing yourself? I mean I did a little search on symptoms and all I have read is sore/itchy/burning and a few others but nothing about smell....perhaps it is a yeast infection, I mean supposedly many women mistake a thrush for a yest infection, so perhaps it is the other way around?

There is nothing to be embarrassed about....YOU HAVE to see a doctor. YOU cannot treat yourself. Both are not identical, as well as if you have yeast you can also have bacterial infections; these can do serious damage to you in the long run. Get to a doc or a gyn ASAP...or to a walk in emergency center or clinic. You may feel embarrassed but trust me, as A Nurse Practitioner I do not find anything wrong with anyone asking me nearly any question. Or having to examine a patient with such symptoms. What upsets me is patients who do not get seen! All of us get "stink" once in a while due to a change in chemistry or an infection...they are not always STD's. What is dangerous is not getting checked.

The smell is almost always associated with bacterial infection, not fungi. Go see a doctor and get it fixed.
I think every woman has a vaginitis at some point. Whether it is one thing or another, the doctor needs to sort it out and the bacterial infection will not go away on its own.

Also wanted to note that when I was 17 I had thrush but had to see a dr. Mine gave me a choice to be looked at or to describe my symptoms to the best of my ability to save embarrassment.
However, it is something you will have to get used to. |
