Healthy Male (32 YRS) - Erection Problems - pls advise.

I know this subject is being brought up again and again by forum members, but I'm starting to wonder if my situation is 'unique'.

Short story: I have trouble getting it up often and trouble keeping it up also.

- I do not smoke or drink;
- I exercise 3 - 4 times per week (cardio rare though)
- I eat very healthy, lots of greens and berries daily;

I am the perfect weight for my height. I had blood tests done that came back normal. So, I am at a loss and yes, performance anxiety has set in as a constant because of how frequently it has happened.

The only thing I've ever found to work is NOT MASTURBATING for an extended period (i usually masturbate once a day, but cutting it to every 4 days seems to ensure that I get spontaneous erections more often).

So my questions are as follows:

1) Is masturbating daily likely to be the cause? How many times does the average male ejaculate per week, and at what point will it cause erectile dysfunction?

2) Can anyone identify any other cause (beyond just performance anxiety)

3) Are there any legitimate solutions to boosting my libido / hardness beyond the 3 pills described in this forum? (viagra, cialis, etc.). I would like to fix the health problem at the core instead of use pills.

In these situations I always suggest seeing a doctor. There are many different causes to E.D. and we can all throw out guesses, but it's probably best to see a professional that can do specific tests to diagnose you. When you got blood test done, were they looking for causes to your problem or were they just routine tests? The doctor can't find a solution if he doesn't know there's a problem.

As for masturbating, I can't see doing it regularly causing issues unless it's to an extreme. I'm older then you and I have an orgasm on average once a day. If that number increases it may affect my sex drive, but not performance. You're still a young man by today's standards I would expect that you should be able to it you want to. If that is not what's happening then you need to find out why.

Specific testing (ED)

I don't know if they were testing for a specific problem. The doctor was a urologist and I clearly communicated my concern (ED). He did both a prostate exam and looked at the blood results and said everything looks normal.

Do we have any specialists here that might be able to assist or provide insight? I'd really rather not become dependent on pills at this stage in my life.

I hear what you're saying about the pills. Have you considered that it's psychological? If it's not physical, then that's the next step. Maybe seeing a therapist is not a bad idea. Does diet affect it? I haven't done much reading on that, but it's a possibility. At this point it's all just guessing. I hope you find a solution, good luck!

See a urologist. At 34, you cannot expect to be what you were when 18. A urologist will check the right things and give you the proper advice. Without a medical history and an exam, no other cause can be seriously considered.
