This is a great question, Thomas.
Yes, men do grow out of PE over time, usually about the time a guy reaches his mid- late twenties and is pretty much a non issue by his early thirties. It is also important to be aware that PE can come back on occasion and revisit a person, temporarily. While an inconvenience, this is not a big deal because you will have learned how to deal with it.** Premature Ejaculation is usually at its worst with teenagers. Whether you are or are older, you may have noticed that this is not usually a problem when home alone, just when you are "entertaining" a partner. There are two reasons for the problem; first, we become much more turned on and aroused when with a partner; second, when we turn the reins over to our partner we no longer benefit from our internal feedback. When masturbating, our internal feedback lets us modulate our movements and make tiny midcourse corrections to what we do in order to better control and time when we want to climax. This is gone when someone else is doing the honors, therefore what has to happen is to give our partner verbal or non-verbal feedback on how we are responding to her caresses and for what we need or DO NOT need, now. ** There are two main techniques for controlling PE. These are discussed in the following article: Squeeze & Training Exercise for Controlling Premature Ejaculation Thomas, welcome to the SI101 Board and its Forums. I hope you enjoy participating. Please begin by familiarizing yourself with the FAQs, the Posting Guidelines section, and, especially the Index, all found at the top of the main screen. The Index contains links to helpful informative insightful and also how-to articles.

The "medications" sold for that purpose are mostly topical analgesics (numbing agents). This reduces the sensitivity of the glans and, ergo, slows, ejaculation. Supposedly. They have been around for decades. Not having a penis, I cannot comment on their effectiveness.
