A guys build and weight? (not sex related)

OK, this has bothered me for a while now. And i finally want to do something about it. I know this forum is for sexually related stuff. But i don't know where to go to ask a question like this.

I'm a very weak and scrawny looking guy and i really want to change that. I'm not exactly looking to only gain muscle but actual meat on my bones. I was wondering if there are ways to do this. I have a very high metabolism. Doesn't matter what i eat or how much. My weight stays pretty much the same. I weight about 150lbs right now. and I'm wondering how much weight i need to add. And how long this would take. It probably sounds like a weired request since every one wants to lose weight. lol
If anyone can point me in the right direction thank you. Any website you recommand me checking out. Or another forum that would be better suited for this question.
Thank you

Gento is on a distinguished road
www.bodybuilding.com

Bulking up and gaining weight with a high metabolism is going to require you to eat fattier and more protein filled foods more frequently that means eating even when you are not hungry. If you are really serious about putting on the weight then the basic things you are going to need to do is change your diet and build a work out plan. I dont know exactly the type of body or how much weight you want to put on but the site i linked has alot of useful info. You can also think of the obvious things you can do to gain weight like limit your physical activity, or just be happy with who you are and dont worry about anything i just said :].

Do as Gento suggests...bodybuilding...bulk up, and eat as directed....my brother was tall and scrawny as a young teen...I took him to the gym with me; he learned to lift & has done so since (25 years); no bad foods, no outrageous diets, NO DRUGS or STERIODS. It's way of life....he has a fast metabolism & I had a sluggish one...weights do the trick and outdoor work activities depend on the weather...learn to press 510/lbs [female] with you legs, no bulk just toned muscle & tell me it does not work...

OK I used to be in the exact same situation. At age 18 I was 6'4" 160 lbs, lol. Here is some advice.

First, how old are you? You'll naturally fill out a bit through your 20's. Not a whole lot probably, but a little.

Second, you need to EAT. And not junk food - real food. You may think you're eating a lot, but it's probably mostly high sugar or fried crap. Eat clean, real, food. You should never, ever be hungry. Even if you're not hungry, you need to have a snack. When I was trying to gain weight, in addition to my "regular" 3 meals a day, I add in the following.
* A protein shake with breakfast
* chicken, broccoli and rice with a pint of milk around 10:30am, as a "pre-lunch" meal
* nuts, dried fruit, a tomato, and a pint of milk around 4:30pm, as a "pre-dinner" snack
* peanut butter sandwich and protein shake before bed

On this "diet" I gained 35 lbs in a year. Forget all the creatine, fish oil, supplements, etc. Those are ways to fine tune your growth and progress. They won't do a damn thing if you're not eating enough.

Third, you need to work out. You're going to be taking in a ton more calories, and working out will cause your body to turn most of them into muscle instead of a gut. If you're naturally very slender, don't work out too often - 3 days a week absolute max.

Good luck. There really is no secret. It's just a matter of eating clean, eating a lot, and working out a bit. The real secret, if you could call it that, is diligence - just liek a fat person on a diet, you're also on a diet, and you can't "cheat" by forgetting meals here and there. The eating is WAY more important than the working out.

Go out & get an issue of "Muscle & Fitness" and one on "Men's Health"...read the articles not the AD's. Look at the work out routine one day arms, abs, legs back, chest, etc. Use some cardio. Look at the diets (required caloric intakes) and the frequency of their required food intakes...how much protein, simple v. complex carbs, veges & fruits (and the types). Strike a good balance since you are not trying to look like them. YOU only have one day per week to "cheat" on your diet. Learn how to rest your muscles to gain maximum strength (recovery time). This is essential before you do any harm to yourself...start slow and build over the winter....NO DRUGS!

Some good basic exercises to do daily are squats, situps, and pushups. Then you need to eat lots and lots of protein. Read up on nutrition. Your body can't form muscle properly if you aren't getting your vitamins and eating the right foods. And go to the gym and lift weights several times a week. One other tip - do not slouch!!! It is so unattractive when skinny guys slouch. Stand tall.

In addition to what these guys have said: When it comes to weight-lifting, a lot of guys are under the assumption that the heavier the weights are, the better. Heavier is NOT better. If you're straining yourself, you aren't doing yourself any favors. Really, 5-10 pounds for each arm should be enough. You're trying to build your muscle mass and strength, not demonstrate it...

I was sorta in the same boat about a year back. Dedicate is the best thing that I found. Yes there are tons of bulking items and diets with loads of workout plans. Bottom line, get your butt to the gym and push yourself. Start out getting comfortable understanding the machines or exercises. Make sure you get a good amount of protein and do your best to push to your limit with the workouts to know you are gaining. I am bulking slow, but I also swim everyday along with weights every other day. So I am defined and bulking slowly maintaining the definition. Just depends what you want to do and feel like you can afford ect. Good luck and get an ipod nano or something for tunes when your in the gym =).
