Allergy to Condom Lubricant
Okay so I noticed the day after having sex for the first time, my fingers began to peel. It was as if i had a little allergic reaction to something, but i didnt know why.
But as time when on. And i started using condoms more frequently, the peeling has spread to both hands, yet its only on the times of my fingers. My girlfriend said it was probably because the condoms were making my hands dry out. I am honestly lost for an explanation though. I mean I have no idea whats going on since it has occured with both latex and polyurethane condoms, and this peeling isnt occuring on my penis or anywhere else that my condom has touched for that matter. Does anybody have any insight on the matter, could it be a reaction to the lubricant on the condoms, or is it just coincidence that this is happening the same time? |

Not being aware of what you are using, that's a tough one. Inside of latex gloves (hospital ones) there is a powder. This alone causes severe peeling of my fingers, add latex and it's very bad. I have to use ones which are latex and powder free. Therefore, what is in the condom? Try plain ones with a hypoallergenic label. Look for polys. Best I can tell you, sorry!

Oh no need to apologize. I didnt really think that anyone would be able to diagnose my problems online lol. I did use latex condoms at first, and then i bought trojan supras (the poly) and if anything it started to get worse. I think that it might have something to do with the lubricant drying out my hands although im not sure.

Most lubricated condoms are lubricated with spermicidal jelly. Not enough to do much good, but jelly none-the-less. Most of the common spermicide is Non-Oxynol-9. This is a detergent. Some few people do react to detergents and that is a definite possibility. Use the dry (non-lubed) polyurethan condoms and use whatever lubricant you want. Using poly condoms means they are not subject to problems with many oils that latex (a vegetable product) is.

Yeah well this reaction is similar to that of when I would have to write on the chalkboard in grade school...my finger tips and palms would peel...the trojan enz lubrication caused the problem I think.
The peeling did flare up when I started using the poly, but I think it was because I used to latex ones to masturbate with (girlfriend said she heard it would help me get used to the feeling)....thats probably why....i used a poly about a week ago and nothing really happened.... Strangly enough there was no problems with my penis while using latex....just hands. |
