Need Physical Stimulation

Is it normal for a guy to need constant physical stimulation in order to get fully erect before intercourse? My ex girlfriend thought she didn't need to do it all the time. She thought that by just kissing her and undressing I should be fully erect. Well that's what she said her last boyfriend was able to achieve. I would sometimes lose my erection during intercourse when we went to get into another position. This would really frustrate her because she would not be as wet. We're not together anymore because our sex wasn't that good. She thought we just weren't sexually compatible and I wasn't completely satisfying her. I always stressed to her that with practice we would be able to build up sexual chemistry but she ended up basically giving up hope on us. I'm very devastated because I liked her so much. I just want to know if:

A) I have an issue I should be worried about for the future or is it normal to need physical stimulation?

B) Is it possible for two people to be very attracted to each other but not be sexually compatible?

You might not need Physical stimulation, oral-talking about sex, love, very sexy things can also get to going. What i love the most is eye candy, no not porno, i mean like reading erotic stories. so to answer number 1, it is probably not an issue, try other things

no. 2. It is possible-i loved my old girlfriend but she didint want to have anything to do with sex, and not to mention she was distant relative, dont want interfamily sex going on
