weird erection problems

whenever my gf and i are together.. i sometimes get unexplained erections.. if we are just sitting together i will get an erection, and kissing her almost automatically brings one. this is quite annoying, and can be the cause of some embarassment..
whats the deal with this or with periodic erection in general?

In a word: hormones.

The erections are known as "spontaneous erections" and they happen all the time as if seemingly having a mind in the head of the penis to all boys from puberty on. They will lessen in time (ten years from now? ) and go away completely in several decades. I agree, they can be the source of some embarrassment, however, we all learn to deal with them.

One way is to position your penis under the fly of your pants so the folds hide the erections. On a positive note, girls know boys get them and girls know how to cause them, so, rather than get all weirded out, enjoy them with a wry knowing little smile on your face.

Periodic to regular masturbation will help reduce the tendency for them to happen.

They often go away when you ignore them (if that's doable.)
