A simple, modern, affordable, high quality sex machine
Hello!
I've seen a few posts regarding Sybian toys here and it piqued my interest. I'd heard about them back in college but didn't give them second thought. I've recently done some research into toys out of curiosity and practical application for a friend with limited mobility and most toys seem to have the same quality as cheap kid's toys. Ones that seem to get high praise for quality like the Sybian are ridiculously expensive($1400?!?!?!) and dated. I am considering making something myself and would really appreciate some feedback to decide whether or not to go through with it. To those who have much experience with these toys or any that work well(or fail!), or simply love orgasms and know their body well, I'd love to hear from you. I have NO plans AT ALL to ever make a commercial product - this would simply be to make something for someone who's had a tough break and to have fun myself with an interesting project. It would be a side weekend project, but one done by an engineer who happens to have a rarer skillset combination and actual real world experience with CAD Drafting, 5-axis / Lathe CNC manufacturing, vibration analysis, machine design, controller design, thermoplastic and silicone manufacturing, and electrical systems. In practical terms, that means I don't need all the middle men specialist labor overhead at different stages of design, manufacturing, and assembly that cause prices to skyrocket so it can be done at a reasonable cost near the cost of materials. I care a lot about quality, but remember that the point is for the overall design to work as well as possible - not have a lot of "perfect" individual parts that don't add up well. The only in-depth reviews that I've found state that the benefits of that product over things like a Hitachi Magic Wand, Erocsillator, Acuvibe, or other higher quality vibrator is that it vibrates entire regions both externally and internally. Some mention how they love how powerful it is, although I don't believe that it's significantly more powerful than a Magic Wand or Acuvibe in a physical sense - but that it's probably perceived to be more powerful due to the wider area of application. Two small motors control the rotation and the vibration separately on a Sybian to provide the stimulation. The key points that apply to what I'd like to make garnered from reviews of current toys from women, my own examination of how many work, and my personal experience in the bedroom with women's orgasms seem to be - You don't need to hold and manipulate the vibrator and/or dildo to receive the stimulation - allowing you to relax more and focus purely on the pleasure. By not needing to move(but being able to if you want), the stimulation pattern isn't interrupted by your own body twitching and shaking compared to trying to control your movements to keep things on the right spot just before orgasm. Smooth adjustments allow for an orgasm to build and build past the point where larger/sudden changes in stimulation would ordinarily trigger an orgasm so you can 'hang' on the precipice of a huge orgasm for a longer period of time. Women can experience both internal and external orgasms as well as blended ones. Being able to control which one you get can be great and the likelihood of a blended orgasm is larger because you can make such small adjustments to such a wide range of motion to both types of *consistent* and *smooth* stimulation on the clitoris, g spot, fornices, and even anus to help ensure that they hit at the same time. Is the above an accurate assessment? I firmly believe that there is no greater sexual experience than a woman and man alone with a bed, completely uninhibited, with nothing on their mind other than driving each other wild. There are times, however, when that isn't an option. Everyone has good days, bad days, and busy days where for whatever reason, it just isn't there, and I'd like for someone to be able to end the day in a mind-blowing, stress relieving, great night of sleep inducing orgasm regardless of the how that day was without any fuss! Besides - it'd just be fun. Goals - Improved shape of internal attachments designed to more effectively stimulate specific spots for her to feel undulating waves of pleasure with the option to combine the sensation with constant internal and/or external vibration. Affordable! Programmable patterns! ( a simple addition but something that should be done AFTER making sure that it's amazing even with a simple "ON") Improved ergonomics. Low Noise Any suggestions/corrections/criticisms? Thank you very much for your time! Funinthesun |

Thanks for the response. My net's extremely spotty right now due to storms so it's iffy on being able to check here this week.
Ive done a lot of research on the web and the thing that surprises me the most is the lack of quality. There are just so many obvious things missing like filleting or sanding edges and mold lines/burs that could make things uncomfortable for someone or poor electrical connections that scream either lack of care, purposefully designed failure, or lack of a good education for design. Most appear to be mechanic/machinist/fix-it-man hobbys - though some have lots of testing it appears. One of the things I was curious to know is why you think the Sybian works as well as it does for you. Is it due to the level of control, upright and straddled position, back and forth(mostly) opposed to spinning weight circular vibrations, the combination of internal and external, etc. There's no reason that I've found that would prevent me from making a better quality Sybian for < $400 USD compared to their $1400. If that company has updated to modern manufacturing techniques and materials then they're making a killing or their suppliers are ripping them off because they don't know any better. That's not my goal. Is there any part you'd like changed? Were this a business project I'd take the feedback and make multiple versions for testing, but I'm way to busy with my own business to take the time to do that so am going to try to collect as much specific information as possible and hope for the best. For safety reasons - I will not be implementing any type of thrusting because it would take too much testing with redundant prevention measures to make sure someone couldn't hurt themselves. I remember someone here asking how to adapt a reciprocating saw to plow themselves in the rectum............Yikes. Last edited by funinthesun; 06-23-2009 at 08:03 AM.. |

I have used the Sybian, not often, with the basic nubby pad, the small probe and the larger probe. The level of success was the same for each. The first time with just the nubby pad, my sister and I carried on a conversation and it still got me there - fast. Experimenting alone, the rotating internal motion was a good warm up but it was the vibration that got me over the top.
Certainly the complete control over what was happening was a great plus as was not having to hold anything that was stimulating my hands as well as the nether regions. The biggest drawback is the need to hold oneself mostly upright. Sometimes it is nice to just lay back and enjoy it. I imagine most women do not wait long enough to tire their arms or thighs.

Got internet back
. Thank you again for the feedback. Since everyone has different preferences and I won't have time for lots of prototyping and testing with her, I've designed the vibration to be adjustable in frequency, amplitude, and angle of stroke where you can just move a pin inside the housing for the amplitude and angle adjustments. All of the different products on market that I've seen only offer adjustable frequency of vibration and not the range of motion - which probably accounts for some people really liking one toy but not another of similar mechanical size/style and texture. It seems a lot simpler to just allow someone to access the housing and make a simple adjustment that offers a different feel rather than bother with the trial and error of multiple products. Of course that only makes sense from a non marketing - make as much money as I can type of mindset. Last edited by funinthesun; 06-30-2009 at 02:39 PM.. |

Hmmm, yes, I have heard and have seen Sybians and frankly - men are much more fun!
Then there's the whole flirtation, sense of humor, body worshipping, OMG! aspect and no machine comes even close to being adequate. Instead of separating yourself further from the action by using a machine - give her the "full court press". |

I agree with Evil. I even like receiving the little deposit that drips out. Some sort of animal satisfaction. For direct sexual release with no muss nor fuss, the Sybian does the job. But the best sex machine breathes - whether or not there is a probe attached.

I agree completely. This is for someone who, due to a medical condition, occasionally has severely disabled dexterity and mobility while also being relatively isolated for work. A simple and fast orgasmic release of sexual tension and stress can help one deal with it. I've had to do years of rehab where I was once too weak to take the cap off my pen and while there are always more important things to concern oneself with, not being able to even masturbate comfortably just adds insult to injury so I'd like to help where I can.
