Lubes???

Any recommendations on using certain lubes over others? Especially when it comes to the female genitalia? Since my SO has lost his lust for me, my toy has seen quite an increase in use and I have noticed that since using it daily(with astroglide) my PH(i guess?) isn't the same. I prefer something that can be picked up at the drugstore, but if there is a better "for her health" one out there that isn't, I'm all ears!

Also, what is the exact difference and reasoning for water vs petroleum based?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

KY warming is good (has an awful taste though). If you are using the lube strictly w/the toy skip the flavored lubes. Plus all of the additives in the flavored brings a whole new realm of problems.

Petroleum v. water based? Some people have allergies to petroleum; additionally, water based breaks down to a natural form where as glycerin & petroleum based do not and are more difficult to wash up. Water is easier to clean up and less damaging/staining to materials. There are also silicone based products. Also, It depends on the material the toy is made of or the type of condoms the lubricant is being used with...the lube can be damaging.

Here is a site:

Nothing beats the old standbys of water based lubes: K-Y or surgilube. These are chemical and pH neutral. If you are also using it with condoms, K-Y Plus and Gynol II are about the same with spermicide added.

I would avoid petroleum bases such as vaselineand see no reason to use other chemicals - including silicone.

I like the KY & surgilube but it would be a lot nicer if their packaging (for home use) was a bit nicer. Looking at the tubes reminds me of sitting in the gyn room, a mood killer!

The absolute best I've found for his and her masturbation is a water based lube made by For Play called Gel-Plus. Just one dab lasts a very long time. For stroking & sucking his cock and general cock "play" I like For Play's Succulent Strawberry lube. The flavored lube is too precious to waste on masturbating (it's more expensive) and a single dab also doesn't last as long as a single dab of the Gel-Plus does = double whammy on cost.

Actually, silicone lube is the only hypoallergenic lubricant available.

Where I got this info

The only problem with silicone lube is that it isn't compatible with certain grades of materials. You can always do a dab test with the lube and your toy (the reaction is an immediate bonding) and may want to invest in another toy that is non toxic, phthalate free and hypoallergenic. Silicone is best, elastomer is a close second.

For Instance or For Instance

Keep in mind that the grade of material is what makes the difference. Like, there is not much difference between a jelly toy and a silicone/jelly mix. 100% platinum grade silicone or elastomer are best.

We like Wet original for everything except anal. For anal we use Wet Platinum.

OK, put a glob of water based lube in your palm and rub your hands together. Ten minutes later, wipe them clean and then wash them. Nothing left. Now do that with silicon based lube. Can't get it off, can you?

In medical procedures we use water based lubes for a reason.

There is some silicone lube that does wash off, though not ALL do.

For Instance

I was simply answering her question about if there was one that is better for the female PH, which is what I was answering. She didn't ask anything about stay-ability (which I also think is a good thing, even with silicone lubes that don't wash off, because you don't have to reapply. Silicone lubes are also perfect for sex in water for that reason).

The silicone lubes that do not wash off will be eliminated by the body naturally. If she is using it vaginally, which is what she said, when she pees, it will leave her body.

I hope this is not taken as being argumentative, I'm just restating what I have learned in my personal research regarding lubricants.

I've been using Four Seasons Ice. It's a water based lube which contains menthol, and it feels great when the menthol sensation kicks in. (I don't know if it is available in the US.)
