I want to touch my girl's anus when we have sex, but it kind of smells bad down there, I know since I can smell sometimes when we're doing it doggy. Now I know we can just shower beforehand, but I'd like to do it as a regular part of sex and we can't always shower before. What I kind of want to know is, do asses always kind of smell and when you do anal play do you just ignore the smell? Or do you only touch the ass when it smells fresh out of the shower? Or does your partner clean up before sex?

If not time to shower...then clean it up! Keep it fresh, soap & water, or try some babywipes!
Squeaky clean is an element of good sex. In inconvenient locations, certain behaviours should be limited.
There is a lot of bacteria down there, so it's vital that everything is clean. Baby wipes is a good suggestion! If you are talking about a slightly musty smell, that is normal, but if it has a very strong fecal smell, I would suggest cleaning first.
