Preventing Problems After Shaving

Hi everyone. I almost always have problems after shaving my pubic area like ingrown hairs and sometimes razor burn. What can I do to prevent the ingrown hairs?

There are three important factors with the actual shave. First, use new blades and replace each as it begins to dull; second, use lots of warm lather; third, shave with the grain of the hair.

As for ingrown hairs and stubble, the latter causes itching and burning so the fix for both is to shave more often. Do periodic inspections and if you see a wayward hair begin to turn, lift it up and clip it off.

i find that when i get the chance, i don't shave every day. shaving every few days helps.. even going two days without shaving makes it really easy the next time. also i read something about preventing razor burn, rubbing a little antiperspirent on with your hand and then washing it off after an hour or so.

I have heard that using talcum powder helps. Is that true?

I just moisturize liberally every morning and I never experience irritation problems.

Mystified...

I just don't get this whole preoccupation with shaving. And, YES, I've surfed the site and polls on this topic. I never thought about "shaving" except for waxing the areas AROUND the bikini lines. I've never known a man that I thought was excessively hairy. I've never been asked to shave. For most women, I think, 3/4 of the pubic hair is ABOVE the cleft for heaven's sake! Maybe this is an aesthetic or contemporary "young peoples" issue? I have issues with hair in other places, like on shoulders/backs, coming out of ears or nostrils, facial stubble--AND I find shaved heads a real turnoff. Sorry to all the cue balls out there, but I like a full head of hair... Well, since joining this site, I'm livin' n' learnin'!

I've found that shea butter works very well - I can shave against the grain of the hair without feeling any irritation or pain at all. You guys should try that, if you're looking to lose the irritation.
