Caveat Emptor!!

And be careful what you are reading. We have some very active new folks here. That is great news for the Board and I am sure we all welcome them. There is a slight problem in that they seem to be early responders to whatever is posted - and they do not know what they are talking about. Some should be doing more asking and less responding.

One is a 14 yo male self-described virgin who seems to want to respond to specifically female issues. But needs basic terms defined. A couple others with little experience and no real learning are jumping on any topic and giving irrelevant, or worse, answers. Telling a woman how to get started when she is describing symptoms of what can become a serious condition is not helpful.

You can get good answers to almost anything concerning sex here - including being told to see your doctor. As a seeker of answers, however, you have to be a bit careful before accepting what is told you.

You can't really get "advice" from anyone. You always have to make up your own mind, make your own choice. But, there is a certain usefulness in garnering feedback and comparing notes.

let's put it this way: "would YOU take advice about investing from a person who has never balanced a checkbook?"

I would also like ask Brandye if she thinks that providing content of this nature to known and professed minors is toeing the legality line, i.e. pornography laws and such. I'm no great legal mind, but it seems to me that if the parent(s) of some of the members of this forum were to read some of the content their kids are allowed to access on this site, they would be very upset and in a position to cause this site serious legal trouble. I'm sure there's a legislator somewhere who would be willing to "take up the crusade" so to speak.

I must say that I share your concern. While most of the posts are relatively innocuous, there are some rather graphic descriptions. I have done some myself.

I am aware of no one being "recruited" or "accosted" or even "approached" on or from this site. Most of the stuff discussed here I discuss with patients from time to time. I am most active with women's involvement and STDs, pregnancy, etc. I have encountered these issues, professionally, as young as 14. I guess I am saying that I would rather the younger ones be here with some relatively knowledgeable people that at a teenie site full of 14 yo males trying to impress one another with nonsense. That is something I see happening here and that is the reason I started this thread.

Now, to answer your question: 1. I am in England and our laws and legislation is a bit different. 2. I am sure some parents would object to some content. 3. I suspect there is much worse on some moderated teen sites. 4. I am a physician not a lawyer. How's that for dancing around a concern I share with you?

These were some of my concerns when I suggested more detailed profiles in another thread... and, as if to make my point, someone has from this site has IMd my Yahoo ID... (forgot it was here, actually)... wants to have "sex discussions" and is asking if I am M or F. Obviously read my profile pretty closely. LMAO (This is happening as I post.) I ducked the question several times for kicks.

Once I said I was male the conversation was over. Pretty funny. Does that mean I can say I was "approached?"

I'm calling my lawyer! LMAO

Actually, Batman, this little controversy has come up in the past and like most issues, the moderators pretty much ignore it. I don't recommend that approach to members. I'm inclined to agree with Brandye, that there's at least some good info here and some "self moderation" done by regular members... I've actually PMd warnings to older folks - in one case a guy who was receiving oral sex advice from a 13 year old girl.

In fairness to these younger folks, there have been some rather immature and emotionally needy "adults" on the board as well.

As the song goes... "you'd better watch out!"

Good reason to not put up IM info. I am glad you shared that Wally. Reminds us all to be careful. Thanks

I was somewhat concerned about having youngsters on here as well. I feel nervous giving sex advice to someone who is under the age of consent. Call me paranoid. This is actually the reason why I started to post a lot less.

Good stuff. Yeah, I get a little paranoid myself. I guess there's no way to really check up on someone's age anyway, so it's kind of a non-issue. It's just something I have qualms about sometimes. Thanks everybody.

LMAO I could really have some fun with it... start a thread about rejection... That was the shortest "relationship" I've ever not had!

Fortunately, my Love left me a mushy PM with all sorts of kisses in it, so I feel pretty good.
