Please note the following guidelines:
- check out the site to see if the information is already posted
- review posts under existing topics in each forum before creating new (possibly repetitive) topics.
- be as clear & concise as possible when naming describing your topic/post. *
- take the time to re-read your post; make sure it reads logically and legibly. Common abbreviations are fine, but please use proper English & refrain from pure slang and/or immature language. If the post is long, break it up into paragraphs to make it more readable.
The answer to your question may well already be here. You are much more likely to get helpful responses to specific questions once you've done your homework.
A reminder - relevant explicit language is acceptable, crudity and profanity are not.

Februaru 2007 - In the last two months and with a few new members, the proferred humour has taken on a nasty and offensive tone. I called one on racist and sexist comments. Now I must add that comments on body types are equally offensive - in the manner presented.
Many comments are off-handed and evidently intended to be humour. Many of them come across as sophomoric and offensive. The previous post talks about mutual respect. One of the reasons I have participated here for so long is that the Board is intended to help but not to encounter locker room banter.
My advice to you would be to take it with a grain of salt. I have worked in a male oriented community for the last year and have found those types of comments will never stop. However, you can call them on it, and kill them with kindness or just make like a duck and let it roll off the back.
there really should be a tool applied to this board that when a new member signs up, they can only post 24hrs later and be limited to 5 posts at first..

As a new member, id like to know why?
Im a Moderator on a differnt forum and i could not imaging limiting our new members:confused:
Im sure this forum is alitte different then someothers simply due to its nature. I cant see why you would want to not allow a new member to make a post, since most will likly have been "lurkers" for a while before finaly signing up, and most sign up because the have a question or comment that they feel they need to get out.
It would give them TIME to read over EVERYTHING these forums are LOADED with, instead of asking the same dumb questions 14 times in a row! That's why!

I agree with you on this one so tired of reading the same question just worded differently
Then we get the people that join just to place an add for there sex site

Or they just log off for 24 hours and then log to post some the same dumb questions, hahaha.
I agree, but there is a lot of information to sort through. And patience is a virtue very few have.
Welcome to the SI101 Board and its Forums. We look forward to your participation and hope you enjoy doing so.
> I really am glad that I joined because I need good advice from people.
Our world-wide community is comprised of experts, "sexperts", experienced, and inexperience people in both knowledge and experience. You may hear from any and/or all. Tongue in cheek, the advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.
> I'm a little nervous I don't want to make a mistake on here
Not to worry, really. We are good boys and girls and generally tend to play well with others.
If you have taken the time and interest to read through the various posts in the Board Notices section then you are aware of the caveats that make some of us growl now and then. The purpose of this site is to provide information in order to raise awareness, improve knowledge and skill, confidence, and as a result, relationships; reduce angst, and, self doubt.
It could be that it's because I'm an aspiring author, but it bugs me when people type in TXT.

To all new members:
Please do a search under the search option since often your questions are answered already.
Read through each & then post a more specific question after informing/educating yourself. This makes it much easier than seeing posters put out 25 posts in a day or two when they have already been answered previously. Use the search option and type in climaxing or go to the site of overall/partial topics.
Here is one link to all mainly asked topics:
--BEGIN HERE--w/a Partial INDEX of Sex Info 101 Sex Ed. Topics
Many people spend much time writing these topics for reasons. Often advise is given from older/experienced individuals. Remember not all of these older individuals are computer savy nor read TXT. Practice good writing techniques here and you will find it will help your writing ability and ease in conveying your intent much easier. Additionally, you can download spell check. Or use MS word and cut & paste your info. here. Not one individual will fire at you for type "o"s...we all do it secondary to time restraints or just bad practice from years ago.:o [me] :o
Good luck to all and enjoy. :)
ok i belong to another forum that has a sex thread and yes they have rules but you all have way to many limitations for newbies. oh, btw i am a newbie! I am going to stick around i want to get better @ sex and pleasing my future partner i hope i can learn despite all the limitations!
What are the limitations that present problems?
Read entirely. :)
Great information, this here is my first post so I was attentive in my approach to this forum and I took clear notice to the pre-post documentation lol. I got it and hope to be an asset to the forum and site.

I do all web surfing from my phone. Hell I have even typed and submitted resumes and emails from my phone. If I can type in plain english then people can too. It has taken me all of 1 minute to type this reply and I don't believe I haz 2 talk lyke diz. So come on people use english. I can understand other countries and things being lost in translation but its ridiculous how many people "seem talk like this cuz wanna save time typing reply and when typing questions"
Also to the guy above me. Nobody is gonna send you the pictures. Your going to have to download drivers to see them (which seems weird cuz I can see the pics from my phone)
how do I delete my account?
We typically do not delete accounts, preferring to let unused accounts hibernate and eventually go into the archive after a few days.
...actually this is a good question, while I have no plans on deleting mine soon, I'm wondering how much bandwith this site has. Eventually, (I don't know how long this site is...) if someone has not responded or contributed to this site in a long time...(like 3-5 years) I could see where deleting accounts would be a sound idea.
Also, if a person does request to have their accounts removed...what would be wrong with complying with that request?
I'm just curious.
I don't know, but I've been viewing the site since 2006, a long while back, but did not become a member until sometime last year...
But, can it be a consideration that those who do not wish to use their accounts any longer have their accounts deleted?
Dear moderators,
I have just a little question about the guidelines. For a while now I've been a bit confused on what is and what isn't considered appropriate language  Now, I know this website has high standards and I much appreciate it!!! As I do appreciate that you moderators take your time to tidy things up; thank you!
I'm not trying to start a discussion on what is or what isn't. Since I thought this information could be useful to others, I made it into a post, instead of PM. I'm simply asking because I do my best to stick to the appropriate language on this forum and I'd like to keep it that way! :)
So; I was under the impression that if you're quoting something someone said it is allowed to be done literary. From the point of view it would actually be changing someone's words if you do. And I thought it is allowed to use expressions since the literal meaning doesn't matter no more, only the symbolic value. My posts so far haven't been edited, so I considered it appropriate.
But sometimes I see the posts of other member are edited. For example, today I came across this post to later find it has been edited:
my dad has a saying
"wish in one hand, s***t in the other"
your gonna get the s***t long before your wish materializes... though granted my dad is a total jerk
EDITED: REMOVED EXPLETIVES.
PLEASE DO NOT USE FOUR LETTER WORDS,
OUR WEBSITE HAS HIGHER STANDARDS.
MODERATOR 3
Isn't this like using any other expression such as "When the s***t hits the fan"?
It sort of surprises me that this word is considered offensive/vulgar/etc, when I see the word "damn(ed)" not removed or edited. When translated to Dutch it is a rather offensive word. Since you are wishing the other or the subject to be cursed, it makes it the best "curseword" of them all . Could it be that there is another standard of severity of the word in English culture (???). There's no dictionary that explains me that :o Don't get me wrong; I'm not asking to ban it. It's just that I seem to be missing something here and I can't put my finger on what it is...
Thank you in advance for replying!
i'm not a mod RR, but i do know the english language and american culture. in your examples the point can be understood with synonyms of that slang word that are not considered as offensive. poop would be one example that could replace it. acceptance all depends on what one is use to. i think when i was growing up they couldn't say ass on tv. they were even more strict in my parents generation, but were much more creative in what they said since they couldn't be vulgar. i have watched the BBC and they don't bleep out the word shit on the shows i have watched. so it all depends on culture and what the national regulator wants to do. we also don't bleep out damn but do bleep out saying the Lord's name is vain when putting God before saying damn. one channel FX is a little more lenient like the BBC in censoring.
to your question about quoting someone that says an expletive; i can't answer for the mods, but unless the word is used in an educational discussion than it may be considered just as offensive to quote it. an example would be talking about black history and using the n word. one saying it to not sugar coat what was said is not offensive compared to a rapper saying it in a music video.
also to the mods - isn't there an ability to pre-sensor words in the back office? so if someone says the f word you could automatically make it change to f**k for example.
there are settings within the constructs of vBulletin (the forum hosting co.) where you can set certain words as innapropriate and the forum will automatically replace them with a designate word, such as in the example you have shown.
I used to be on another adult forum a couple of years ago and the words "kid" or "child" were automatically blocked out, such that if you typed "childhood" it came out "*****hood"
These are done within the control panel and can be set as the mods see fit. However as this site is geared towards adults, you would think a few of these words might be left untouched, like the aforementioned reference to feces
At least a dozen years ago or more, one of the hospital TV shows had a week's worth of teasers saying that there was going to be a ground breaking announcement, a first, on next week's program that was going to get passed by the censors. I think it was "Chicago Hope", although, it might have been another program. The night came, the plot of the show was what happened during the night shift in which nothing went right and among several problems, they lost a couple of patients. The doctors were assembled, later, in a conference room where they conducted a Morbidity and Mortality hearing in order to assess what went wrong with these two cases, etc. After much discussion and analysis, one of the doctors folded his hands behind his head, leaned back in his chair and simply announced: "well, sometimes s**t happens!" This was the first time such language was permitted on American television. Curious, as much as I am against bad language in conversation, this remark just seemed so appropriate--like what else could be said under the circumstances. The remark just fit after all the events that had occurred the previous shift.
I have mixed feelings about expletives. As in the quote, above, I do not see anything particularly egregious about using the s-word. On the other hand when someone frequently interjects one or more of these words into the flow of their general conversation, I become critical. I almost want to hand the person an unabridged English dictionary for them to find alternative words, in the hope they will take pride in the use of our language and find better words.
Of similar concern are all the reminders issued by members of the community with regard to usage such as "me and her", "your" instead of "you're", etc. We have to appreciate the fact that a good number of participants to this site live in foreign countries all over the globe, often trying to understand the English language that is not native to them.
What we should all be concerned about is how we appear to others, how we as a civil people present ourselves and come across to others. If we mutilate our language when speaking or writing to others, what does this say to others about we as a culture? At the very least, I believe each of us should do a bit of self editing and if the s- word or other is thought necessary, put in the **** instead of the letters. This demonstrates more class and everyone will get the message.

In most cases you would have a much better success ratio by holding the dictionary against their ear and striking it with a large sledgehammer. While this will not drive the knowledge contained in that book directly into the subjects brain, it will powerfully motivate most individuals, in a surprisingly short span of time, to stop their displays of foolishness and/or stupidity. After a few judicious applications of treatment, they may actually begin to use the dictionary for it's intended purpose simply because if they are holding it, it probably won't be next to their head, and if they going to carry it around, they will open it sooner or later, usually as soon as you show them the hammer.
Unfortunately, the global war on cyber-stupidity is one that I fear we shall never win by conventional means, as stupidity is a deep and endless chasm that most people are too lazy to try to climb out of because the chairs are comfortable, they have their TIVO programmed the way they like it, and they can answer almost half the questions on "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?". I'm afraid it's time, pass out the dictionaries and the hammers, it's education time!

This is true I for one am an author as well. I have a short little snip it from a book I wrote and am hopeing to get published in the entertainment section of these forums. If you would please tell me if there are any grammatical errors such as the mon is n he ky t nite should be the moon is in the sky at night.
Thank-you (sex scene is not yet on this site maybe soon)
More changes to this site?
Now I can't make edits, what happened and why was this initiated???
Editing is still allowed... but only for the first, i believe, 24 hrs after a post is made...
Too many people were getting what they wanted from the forum... then coming back and deleting their messages... leaving threads not making sense.
I tried to edit one of my posts the other day about 5 minutes after posting and was blocked, the auto response said I only had one minute to make changes
I experience the same as HT. I was actually editing a post and I couldn't upload the change anymore. (I guess I should have taken that course to learn to type more words within one minute with the additional course of thinking quicker, LOL! ;):):D)
Hey Guys and Gals,
Sorry for the delay, the setting was configured incorrectly...
Editing should now be allowed for 24 hours.
Cheers,

I realize this quoted post is old (like 5 years old!). Perhaps the issue, too, is old. But, chiming in here, I disagree.
As I mentioned in my first and (so far) only other post on these forums, I "accidentally" ran across this website tonight. I read a post to which I wanted to reply so I created an account for that single purpose. Had I been required to wait 24 hours to post my reply I most probably would neither have created an account nor ever returned to this site. (But now, for better or worse, ya got me!) :D
While I have not yet read through all the forums and "sticky" posts what I have found rather ... ummm ... disturbing are the numerous and badly written, juvenile-sounding posts announcing "I am 14 years old and my penis is 4 inches long...."
While I am sure there are many 14 year old boys who are curious about sex, I suspect these posts are made by guys who are a tad bit older than 14 and are made just for "fun." Nonetheless, I don't find anything fun or funny about said posts.
I feel if sexinfo101 does not already have a minimum age requirement in place then one should be established.
Just my 2 cents.
Welcome to the SI101 Board and its Forums. I hope you will enjoy participating. Please begin by familiarizing yourself with the FAQs, Posting Guidelines Section, and especially the Index, all found at the top of the main screen. The Index contains links to helpful informative insightful, as well as how-to articles that discuss the most common questions and concerns people ask about. In addition, if you click on the site's Home Page you will find even more information.

Several years ago the site experienced a rash of posts from boys concerned about "size". These repeated questions prompted some retaliatory remarks in the Posting Guidelines section, plus an article on the matter that appears at the top of the list in the Index.

Neither do those of us who are longtime contributors, as noted. Thank goodness the topic is at a low point, again.

There is a minimum age guideline published; however, it is nearly impossible to enforce. All we can do is continue to self police and regulate.
Well, I think it's really not that bad to answer the questions of curious and insecure teenagers. Particularly those who are at a loss in school-systems where sex ed classes have been stripped from the national program. Missing out on proper sexual education is not just a third world problem, but very real in too many western societies. And where will the modern generation look for their so needed answers? The internet! With bad and serious misinformation lurking everywhere... If there's any place on the web I'd like them to come seeking for help and knowledge, it would be here :)
