Oh that's just typical... Of course I would have to post my picture after someone as pretty as Alexandra! lol. ;D
Anyway, here goes... These are all slightly old pics, btw. Haven't gotten around to using the camera on myself lately. =/
And since I saw some conversation going on about gawths and what not earlier...
(That awesome dog's name is Mako; he was one of the dogs up for adoption at Hernando's American Pit Bull Terrier Rescue group a few months ago when we went up to Tampa to help them out. I freakin' LOVED that dog!)
- And for the record, I am by no means what you would consider a "goth" or "emo". I don't even wear these clothes anymore (although I wish I could sometimes) but I did dress like this all throughout high school. I just loved the look, and damn those pants are comfy!! =P
well i want to go to a real university, but i already talked to some community colleges...in highschool i took alot of AP/honors classes and made sure to get to college level math so that i would have it to fall back on if culinary school didn't work...
but the schools i talked to said that since i already graduated more than a year ago, both my highschool transcript and my SAT scores are worthless, and that i basically shouldn't have bothered even going to highschool. so i'd have to start over from square one...
Many colleges are capturing people such as you...they do so through adult or continuing education divisions. One where I recently graduated, I returned after having a 1.9 GPA back from 1987, and I walked in 2003 looking to finish! Well, in about 5 minutes they signed me up, I had to complete my undergrad and then move to a Master's to "rid" myself of the old GPA. They have found studies where those who are confused as to what they want to be "when they grow up" or return to better their careers have higher sucess rates. I was the one "What do I want to be when I grow up" and graduated in the Master's division with a 3.9 GPA. Yeah hard to believe. This college also has a Fashion design program.
When I returned to college writing was a challenge for me--I had done well in HS and when I first began college...then became a nurse and all writing skills subsequently only worked in the medical field which ruined my ability to write properly.
I watched other women get removed from class due to their lack of ability to pay...I did pay for a few to complete. When I divorced I set up a scholarship for women who wished to have an education but fell below the ability yet had too much household income. Many had unusual financial & family obligations; therefore, their B or C+ was the equivalent to a full time student who had an A. I have continued to fund this for the years & have graduated 19 women!
The cost for a course in a private college is very high; therefore, these ladies would not have been able to attend yet have done VERY well post graduation and also now help fund part of the scholarship as payback for what they received.
My point is; don't give up! Find the right school for you...I could not even pass the GRE's! Yet graduated with a 3.9 GPA! If you wish any info on this drop me a PM...
Additionally, when my ex husband left I did not know how to turn a computer on! I had to learn fast (when I worked in administration a secretary did it all for me); I learned fast Excel, Power-Point, and MS Word. Now, there is a whole world out there for me on the net! Probably why I post so often! If I can do it anyone can! I am part of the digital divide, LOL!
I'm not comfortable with posting my picture here for the whole world to see but if anyone's interested, ask, and if I recognize your screen-name, I just might send you a picture or two if I can figure out how...
You are gorgeous! It's a very nice picture, the linked one, and the dress you did well on!
Ps. Thanks for sharing your pic...I love to put a face to those who post. Just watch out; I pulled mine b/c some odd individuals made obscene PM's to me as a result of a photo being posted.

i thought about it...but i just dropped out of culinary school, and i have no clue what i'm doing with my life, plus i'm scared of investing even more money in something i might also suck at haha...although i do currently work in a fabric store lol

well i can't sew that well. that dress is almost the only thing i've ever made and i dont even know how i did it, since i didn't use a pattern.
i'm realizing too late that i should have taken the generic get-accepted-to-a-university-straight-out-of-highschool route...i had the grades in highschool but now its too late :(

It's never too late! Look for a College which has a fashion design background. Preferably one that is a Community college...you can always transfer when you demonstrate your abilities!

Nope; I simply haven't posted much. I stick to my area of interest around here. :)
i absolutely loved those books. my mom on the other hand, who is a sci-fi freak and loves the dune series and everything, had no clue what was happening most of the time. lol. you're right, some people just dont get it!
Here's the wikipedia entry on the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, which Douglas Adams wrote.
I've read all of the books, although it's been a while. They're basically science fiction with a comedic twist. I like Adams' unique style, although as Thresher_V said, his sort of humor was a bit difficult to understand.
Alexandra, Wow, you look great.
You put my picture to shame.
