I can draw a parallel with this feeling of awkwardness, but with music instead. I have my lists of songs that appeal to me and I enjoy listening to, but I feel awkward and embarrassed when someone else listens to them with me.
These feelings probably arise because we feel that our tastes are being evaluated by the other person. At the same time we also evaluate what we like and start picking everything apart. When you are by yourself you enjoy everything, but with someone else you feel self-conscious because you don't know how the other person will react.
The only solution I can think for this would be to put on a show of confidence (even if you don't feel it) and say to yourself: "this MY music/porn/whatever else and I like it, if you don't too bad!" If you can feel confident enough to invite a female friend over to watch porn with you (do tell how the heck you managed that), then you should be able to do this.
By being confident, you will probably make the whole experience more enjoyable for everyone, and the other person may enjoy it more because you do too. However, this will not work if the other person finds the content to be extremely offensive.
