Yes, it does.
I say that it all depends upon intent. As a card carrying male of the species, pleasing myself now that I am long past the teen years has more to do with relieving stress and tension than the pure pleasure of it all, as it used to be.
Having a partner with whom I have an emotional connection with who will take matters into her hands provides climaxes that are vastly more intense than what I am able to do while home alone. I have said this many times and it also holds true for women.
