I saw on the news, yesterday, that the iPhone has a new app(lication). The phones will be disabled when the user is sitting in a car (driving or not) and the car is moving above 5 MPH.

It was developed by the mother of a teenage son. They were together in the family car and he was driving. She observed him texting while driving resulting in him weaving dangerously between lanes.
