Even if you're the only one using them I think it's a good idea to cover dildoes with a condom. You can be fairly sure that will be safe, and besides it makes cleanup easier.

I have had girlfriends in the past that have let me try it, and they seemed to love it. In the beginning it's more an issue of trust and believing that your partner is not out to hurt you. I don't doubt that it hurts, but from what I hear from the virgins of the world (never have been with one) is that vaginal sex hurt the first time to. It's something to get used to, and if you want to try it go for it. But, you have to look at all aspects of it and your own sexual nature.

You're an example of what I've always thought . . . if straight guys can get away from the idea that butt play is strictly "a gay thing" they might find they're missing out on a lot of fun. Not everyone's going to enjoy it, but not all gay guys like it either. It's an "orientation neutral" activity if you drop the misconceptions.

I've never had the gas problem. (Not that I don't have gas, of course, just that I'm aware of it before starting the activity) Change your diet.

Blood is never "normal", but it's not necessarily serious. Go slower and easier on yourself and use more lube. It might be helpful to get checked by a doctor if it happens again . . . . most likely hemorrhoids or a small tear that will take care of itself, but nice to have that confirmed.
